shout out to person at 1:30 who coughed in time with the choir
Brilliant performance - they make it look and sound easy - it isn't!

Can attest to that. Performed it more than a decade ago when I was in the choir in college. Not easy, but so damn fun!
Is it wrong that I was expecting the Harry Potter version?? However, the bass held it down.

Oh, I LOVE the fact that they're all in Halloween costume for this! So were we, when we performed it!
This song was composed to my current choir. :) Of course I didn't sing in my choir back then, but anyway, we sang it in my choir's 80'th anniversary some years back and it's super fun piece - of a great set of 4 shakespeare songs by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.

Terveisiä entiseltä kakkosaltolta Jaakko Mäntyjärven kuoronjohtajuuden ajalta!
The harmonies and chords in this are exquisite. I can tell it's a very difficult piece, and it's definitely a very beautiful piece of choral music. :)
Perfect, both pitch and interpretation!
Something wicked this way comes! Like if you get the reference.

The witches were trying to trick Macbeth but why did Macbeth keep going back to them he shouldn’t have killed the king anyway
This was composed in 1984 by Jaakko Mäntyjärvi from Finland. Great interpretation by the University of Utah Singers, congratulations!
1:03 this guy...
1:32 Literally my face when I heard this. 😳😳😳 And, was it only me who expected the _Harry Potter_ version?

Mee too
the only thing this video told me was that all conductors should wear cloaks
Well,in my music school (in Hungary) we're working on this song. I must say that now I've seen that great performance,I like it much more than before. :)
@xKirstynHippe The music in PoA is written for the film, this is a piece written specifically for choirs - they have nothing to do with each other. The text is just taken directly from Shakespearein both cases, so the text will inevitably be almost the same. :)
Any one else find the guy wearing the 'Phantom' mask to be awesome?

Jaakko Mäntyjärvi is a genius. He makes such fascinating pieces!
Hahaha, that was perfect! I loved the part where the entire choir mimiced witches; The facial expressions on that guy with the witch's hat were priceless. 0:58-1:16. You guys are amazing. Not much else can be said. Not one single detail was spared
Awesome! Incredible discipline to pull this off. . . and do so nearly perfectly.
Whoa! That is about the most awesome thing I have heard all week!
oh my god this is perfection
LOOOOL the guy at 1:00 xD
Good job on a very difficult piece!
Yes, this and the HP version both took the words from Macbeth, but since the tunes are entirely different, I wouldn't call them the same song.
I love this
Specjalnie się zalogowałam żeby oddać swój głos. Oczywiście łapka w górę. Chór znakomity, nie mogłam się oderwać od ekranu. Jesteście super :) Pozdrawiam :)
Seeing this piece live is truly an experience

Brilliant.
Stop comparing this to the Harry Potter version. Both are EXTREMELY different in composition, and both have their merits. I personally think this version is much more fun, but again, I don't think we should really compare the two seeing how drastically different they are.
Wow that was really neat sounding! :)
Great song to sing for this choir.
Perfectly badass. Not what I was expecting but still impressive
great interpretation,,,,
perfect.

if you prefer it then go listen to it and leave the top comment to some one who like this version
@karlabanjo He's getting into the music. It also helps to make faces when you sing nasally.
i like it XD
wow
@SuperJigles Oh no. Sorry I missed that look on his face from the close up, thanks for pointing him out to me!
I have to sing this with my choir in December
Original and inspired. They have captured the magic of harry potter and the ominous tone of the song perfectly!

It's from macbeth, not harry potter. John Williams version was made AFTER this version
Casual Friday at the opera
It's the same with catholic schools, right in my Chamber choir we're also singing this song.. why not, it's music. And it's good. And it's fantasy.
@Canadaisblaa Ahem, if you are referring to the Harry Potter song, this was composed earlier.
The "lyrics" are the same. There is no "original" version. They're both settings of the same text from Shakespeare's Macbeth.
lovely sops and altos! you guys almost sound like one :)
depends on what you are looking for of hearing for
@elendless Or perhaps some of us have read and studied Macbeth AND love Harry Potter.
Hi! That`s a wonderfull and genius performance! can someone tell me where I can find the score for my choir? thank you
Bonjour, où je pourrais acheter ces partitions? Merci!
@gangster001A Yeah, I am. We were definetly not as good as this ones, but we enjoyed singing it very much. :D
😍
@relussier different versions. obviously they were going for a more medieval/folk feel with the harry potter one. also this one´s acapella.
