Double Corner Choice: 18x9 attack analysis

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In today's checkers video, I discuss the opening 9-14, 22-18, 11-15. This opening was called the Double Corner Choice in the mid-19th century, and was occasionally played in the unrestricted and 2-move era. It's primarily seen as a 3-move opening today, with a number of transpositions into specific attacks. It is popular with all classes of players -- I certainly was partial to it when I first started playing. 9-14 is the second best way to begin the game, and after 22-18, the 11-15 is a good alternative to the usual 5-9 cover up.
When given the "choice" in this opening, I prefer the 18x9 capture, which provides immediate pressure and sustaining attacks on red's double corner. I also highlight the 18x11 capture, which may be the theoretical best way to attack in this opening. As always, I provide the reasons and "why" behind these moves. Stay tuned as I'll provide one sequence on that line of attack next week.

Very informative. Keep the good work. I would like an extensive analysis of different variation of single corner openings as i have learnt alot of online players prefer the opening.

Thank you, Daud -- I appreciate the feedback! I do have a live stream in which I talk through the Single Corner and include some lines in my videos. I understand Single Corner is played quite a bit online. Unfortunately I would not consider myself a Single Corner expert, but certainly can include some additional lines from time to time in my videos. Thanks for watching!

I have seen it and it was very helpful. I have manage to get multiple draws with even some experts. But i dont know how i can get some wins. If only you can find an expert and discus the same way as black doctor was discussed it will be wonderful. By the way i have played black doctor multiple times by i only lost once. Thanks to your video.
