Wonderful. I never heard double C tuning till this video. I heard of drop thumb playing but didn't realize it applied to double C. I don't like barr cords either. My hands are small and long stretches are uncomfortable. I don't enjoy them on guitar any better then Banjo. So I do appreciate you showing the cords without barring. It makes me more willing to begin.

Great video. Seeing stuff like maj/min/sus always freaks me out a bit and makes my brain shut down. You really put this stuff in a way my brain can sort of wrap around.

Best lesson I've had in weeks. The diatonic series is alive with possibilities and you explored them so well. Great intro to double C. Thanks Ozark and Go HOGS!

Man, thank you so much for such a great lesson. As a guitarist moving to banjo this is exactly what I need to see. I also really enjoy your playing in other videos. That banjo and that technique you have makes that banjo sound a sweet clucky delight. Keep Up the good work. From an irish lad livin in Spain 👍

Great lesson Lukas, you're a master. Have you ever tried harmonizing the scale playing chords built starting from their third or their fifth? Instead of the root on the 4th string, like the shape you're playing. I have some schemes of that, I could send to you (for free of course).

The Ozark Banjo Co. by Eden & Lukas Pool are there any inversions or maj minor 7 chords or any tunings to accommodate the other notes of the scale? Like a maj7 or m7 tuning?

Are you sure you're hearing the notes right as you tune? If you're not used to moving to alternative tunings, it's possible to mishear by a fifth. The only upwards tuning for this is the second string and it only goes up a semitone - same as for 'sawmill' tuning. That definitely shouldn't break a string if you start at correct pitch.

  • @TheRamsberg

This tuning also works for the guitat's 1-5 strings.
