I really really liked Lina's character. No character is perfect, and she knows it, but she still tried to be better anyway. It gutted me when she was killed off

They killed three bad ass women in season 2, i was in tears, since all three were so complex and enjoyable, how they died was just crushing. And Slyrak talking about Lina like she was his favorite daughter really got to me. But even so, season 2 was fantastic, I can't wait for season 3.

“You overstepped” once you know who he is….yikes that’s the turning point in the conversation. The minute he shows his power you can see the desperation and fear. One of the best scenes in any anime. So powerful. You go from cheering him to fearing him very quickly. Lina did overstep and the price was steep.

"You made a terrible mistake. You tried to kill my sunbeam..." Such a badass line. Up until then Kashurra has been an apathetic bureaucrat who understands emotion has no place and has been running the empire behind the scenes but for the first time he sounds *pissed*. Gave me chills the first time I saw this scene.

Lina is a big hero in Dota legacy, I think she's still alive because no corpse found in the throne room. Maybe she escaped, or maybe some1 saved her (Phoenyx?). And yes, all this thing is for Mirana "The Chosen one", what a boring story.

Honestly, ngl. Kashurra was my fav character. Especially in this season. I’m a sucker for those “secretly OP and protective as hell” types

With Terrorblade and Invoker's conversation confirming that the multiverse does exist in this show, I wonder if in Season 3 Davion is going to encounter a Lina from another universe seeing as how they're going to be taking the fight to Terrorblade.

Multiverse always exist in Dota. Every match of Dota is canon because the radiant and dire will always rewind back to the start over and over again. An endless cycle of DOTA will go on forever. Which, Arc warden is trying to stop.

I love Lina she is my favorite character in Season 2. Yes, it was wrong that she hired an assassin to kill the princess, but the fact that she confessed to it shows that she is not a bad person. And their fears were not unfounded. I mean the princess stayed away a long time and if the flowers hadn't been stolen she would probably still be there. I hope that lina will come back, even if it seems impossible.

Also I’ve never played DOTA but isn’t she one of the playable characters? It just wouldn’t make sense to kill her off so easily.

Maybe she has connection with phoenyx (same like Rylai and Auroth), Phoenyx herself has healling and revival abilities too.

if everyone just listened to him noone would have died. He didnt want to kill lina, he didnt want to do anything other than to keep the cog of the empires machine going smoothly so it can it keep producing new reincarnations of the eye, which is a tether to the world worm in our realm, which he has the utmost loyalty to, long story short, lina is not our ally, she tried to kill Mirana, the real heir to the throne and the actual reincarnation of the world wurms eye.

Dude... I wanted her to live... Goddammit she was the standout for me.

Lina's words remind me of Daenerys Talking to Tyrion about breaking the wheel. Kashura, is like a combination of Tyrion, Varis, and Tywin.

I had an impression that Lina fell hard and fast for Davion, and he also felt something at least. So I expected a sort of triangle... Adn Lina as shown as a complex character, I was really hoping for a longer story and romance. Maybe she and Marci and Wyvern will still return though.

You should check out the attacks from the character Dota's lina was based on. Look up Lina inverse's Dragon slave, Ragna blade & Giga slave. It's interesting because the original character actually infamously drew her power from the void for her big attacks. She could also cast a variety of fire spells (and spells of all other elements) but those were just basic common spells. What set her apart was her Demon based attacks

The lines in this show are absolute pog

I think Lina is alive somehow. She's not that weak to dying that way. Or maybe if she really dies we will saw her in the future season's. Her another version in another universe.

if you notice that at the end when mirana and marci went to the room to take the eye, lina wasn't there/there's no lina's body. maybe she is still alive somehow, but idk I just want her to still alive, they hyped her with showing her in the trailer, showed her how strong she is, but then they just killed her in the same season. what a waste of a character if she really died...

@@ShiningNorthStars at least for the most part, its an adaptation of the original lore, kinda like the mcu where it isnt a carbon copy of the comics line. I highly doubt any of 3 are truly truly dead, sure somehow they get revived in future seasons.

Kashurra is the definition of Black Air Force Energy.

What I understood is that this character could be the enigma, since he had said that he was empty and a black hole looking for light. In the biography of the riddle it is also the same thing about it and it also has the similarity of abilities with the dark colors. But there's also his dragon form, which looks like the Underlod.

In the Silmarillion Sauron fights one of the high kings of the Noldor in a mage battle I always imagined this is how it went.

Kashurra wasn't a real villain , he kept quiet and was content to simply watch his sunbeam grow .

She tried to kill Mirana to undermine the emperor on the throne, she thought it would force him to abdicate. She wasn't self serving, she genuinely saw the complacency and corruption of the empire, and felt it would only worsen with Mirana in the mix. If it weren't for the fact that Mirana was uniquely different from other nobles, Lina would not have been wrong. And since we're talking about people overstepping, let's remember that the other guy in charge literally killed the previous rulers, which has led to the legitimacy crisis we see in the show. What Kashurra meant by "overstepping" was that she got in the way of his plans, not that she was doing really anything wrong to the empire. Kashurra was loyal to Mirana, no one else

Kashurra is evil but even I couldn't help but root for him in this scene The moment Lina resorted to assassination is when she proved she's no better than the previous emperor

@@carbodude5414 well that is true but I think if we desclude rhe whole god thing from the empire that mirana wouldnt be that good of a ruler as she was more of a general than anything. Having no experince in the intriuge of the court or stewardship. Lina wouldnt be that much better but she at least knew the situation fo the empire which was at cup of civil war

lina is one of my favourite hero-characters. Kahurra is right in regards of her personal flaws but she tries her best despite these and aknowledges her shortcomings.

I lowkey agree with Kashura on how governments should be run. Like an efficient machine run by the people and organized by officials all working in balance. Lina's type of governing style was probably a full on democracy lead by radical policies which would have quickly fallen into chaos. Although portrayed as a villain, you cannot deny Kashura's wisdom.

Those with high power would disagree and form a civil war with their private armies, bloodshed is inevitable if Lina wanted change too fast. A pace of a generation or 2 would suffice in order to turn an empire into a democracy, given that Lina's ideals would be nurtured by the people.

From what I understood from the lines and the scenes, he's not that exact void dragon who happens to be one of the pillars, but he somehow copies its attributes, like its appearance. Slyrak told when they were fighting he was merely an abomination trying to be a dragon. So I think he is just a void user copying dragon's powers. Maybe like Lina using Slyrak's powers?

I want to see a Sven vs jugg duel, because in lore they clashed my times before i just want to see it in later seasons. They are like rivals 2 swordsmen with very different styles but yet always seem evenly matched

I wonder what Terror Blade and Invoker thought of Kashurra's power? I am sure the three of them knew about each other so why didnt Kashurra consider the other two a threat to his sunbeam especially Terror Blade with him wanting to destroy reality.

That's a real damn shame, tbh. She easily became my favorite this season, only to get unceremoniously killed off screen. In general, damn, what a messy season. They really packed this thing with like 3-4 full seasons' worth of material.

@@Volthoom this is still the beginning. Terroblade and the void dragon itself, said there is a multiverse. Heroes dies, not all alive. Guess they are trying to do that to feel more "real", then using the multiverse stuff to keep the series alive.

A few years ago, at the height of GoT's hype, this would have been seen as brave hard-hitting writing that keeps the viewers/readers guessing. Guess people have outgrown that shock value.

I wished they animated a full fight. We all know that Lina is doomed but watching the struggle should be good. She is on her prime, a veteran, and had realized the full potential of her abilities. I do not like her to be just shown bloodied, broken, and lifeless, seating on a throne as her way out of the story.

To be honest I really liked that they killed her but I don’t like how they killed her , it would have been better if she went against the red dragon or the princess tried to fight her

Weird how they hyped us all up for Lina only to kill her off like that. Either its terrible writing or a clever one. I’m hoping the latter

@Rip Tide People seen GoT and the Walking Dead. I do not understand why they are so suprised? Dragons Blood Book 2 just upped the anty for Arcane Season 2. "We killed our beloved characters in our writing, your ball now!" And they did it in a way that functions. I saw people complain that they killed 3 beloved heroes from Dota 2 in a way to rushed time. But I say, it was a warzone, There was probably thousand dying. Three heroes that stayed and fought or got sought out to be killed. It makes sense to me in the story.

@@Marcusianery Yeah but it's still a story. You're wasting interesting characters for no reason other than shock value. I'm starting to think they'll still be involved in the plot somehow because I don't see why Lina needed so much screen time (flashbacks of her past) if they were just going to kill her offscreen. It's also strange to write in that connection with Davion and Slyrak, if again, she was just going to be bodied offscreen. Marci being killed off (while I HATE THAT) I can understand well enough, my objection would be personal taste (I would rather we stray from the trope of the loyal companion always getting killed for the sake of developing another characte). But Lina being killed? After all that effort in fleshing her out? That seems off to me, she's probably still going to factor in somehow.

@@ravenblood1954 Well, should they just kill off some nobody off screen? Legatus dying off screen would not create emotion. Half the thing is to create emotion, Game of Thrones does it, Walking Dead done it. This is a common trope. Considering how there is odd powers in the Dota universe and spirits very much seem to exist. Nothing says Lina will begone forever. To be honest, I seen more fleshed out characters in other shows get real shitty deaths.

@@Marcusianery I don't personally think this is the best way to execute this style of storyelling, I'm just not a fan of how this was particularly handled. Aureth and Marcis's death are fairly typical for tropes in storytelling, it's really just Lina who dies this way. I feel the first season was far better at delivering stakes and danger than this season

Not really, he was obssessed with divination and consumed by his need to fulfill a spiritual purpose. He was largely acting out of this obsession, rather than any real ideological purpose

This is such a surreal turn of events in the history of animation -- Lina Inverse, the protagonist of a manga/anime franchise that started in the early 90's, ends up being the inspiration for a playable character in a custom game on Warcraft III, down to a duplicate name and two moves that are also named after signature attacks of the original (Dragon Slave and Ragna Blade), who, in turn, plays a role in an animation 30 years later. I wonder if the creator of the original franchise would sue at this point... EDIT: Read comments below for the right of it

Slayers began as a serialized short stories in 'Dragon Magazine' in the late 80s and is primarily a Light novel series (covering 17 main volumes and 35 volumes in the 'special & smash' series). The earliest Slayers manga was a single volume released in 1995. It's certainly not a manga series. The 5 season anime adaption borrows plot elements from the first 8 books of the main Light novels series with some elements from the Specials series of books. I already said I was shocked they used her in an official animation, keeping her name and attacks without changing them to distance them from the license.

Heroes never die they just have to wait 120 seconds to respawn and yes they don’t have buyback yet

She has the least scene compare to other female characters, but she is the most interest one. I swear her personality fit to be main character the most

I agree. She appears little, but it's one of the best characters from the entire anime. Far more interesting than pretty much everyone else.

Yes she is DEAD in this universe/reality. TERRORBLADE literally tells Invoker that there are other universes in which Invoker has different purposes but has the same ending and shows us the invoker from another reality dressed as to how the REAL Invoker is dressed from the game, Indicating that this is not the world where Defense of the Ancients takes place, but merely a different universe where things are a bit different.

And I really like that! Means no one is safe! I loved Lina in the show, great character! But I approve of her death because it made me so more intrigued and interest in this show, as opposed to how I felt in season 1

@Rip Tide Invoker is implied to have done this in the other parallell universes, but it seems they can differ. In one Davion probably dies fighting Terrorblade with Slyrak early on, in another Kashurra fails to save Mirana and she gets killed by her uncles men. In another Vhadrak does not take Invokers deal and kills him so the Elder Dragons can focus on Terrorblade. The story might be the same but it differs, it is also not proclaimed that this happens in all the parallell univeres because cause free will seems to exist in all of them and adjusts happens. Which means in one world maybe Filomena lives because Selemene in that one might be a more benevolent ruler. We do not know how much if a difference each version can take. But it is implied in a lot of them Invoker and Terrorblade done this deal, could be in all of them , could be just more than one.

Seems like the ancients in this show are important for future season. Is it possible they will bring back slain characters in this show to fulfill their purpose? Like zombies?

I have a theory she might still be alive. When Mirana and Marci entered the throne room to get the eye, Lina's body was nowhere to be seen.
