DOT SAE 5x7 LED Headlight / DRL & Turn Signal / LOYO / Jeep XJ
These are the nicest 5x7 LED Headlights I have seen to date that fit the Jeep Cherokee XJ. They are DOT SAE Certified and are VOR so the beam is Z cut for driving on the right hand side of the road.
Forgive me for installing another set so soon, but they shinny's were too strong this time. Jokes aside I wanted to use these because they give a much better driving experience than the previous pair in not blinding on coming traffic, or being too bright. Its a clean looking headlight with a more modern look so it wont be for everyone, but personally I really like them.

Hey Mike, the issue with the fast indicators when the bulb is out, is because the LEDs have too little resistance on their own so you need a flasher relay to replace the OEM one. It's the reason cars hyper flash if an indicator bulb has blown, to let you know. If you replace your main front indicators with LED bulbs you may find it does the same. Looking good man, just hoping they bring out a RHD version!

That sounds like a cool idea to be fair.
No if you get a led relay from Orilies or online plug it to the turn signal then to the wire and boom perfect it’s cus of the high voltage that’s why wen you replace a bolb with different wats it changes the relay pattern so instal a led relay then to the wire and then boom perfect

I'll be very interested to see how these hold up Traditionally I have had to stick with an 5x7 h4 housing swap. Staying with the halogen bulb let's it melt ice and snow in the winter, leds with plastic fronts especially ice up and get wrecked by the salt on the roads.

Got the True mods version in chrome and like the look. Light work great but have a quirk I cant solve. Emailed True mods about it today to see what they say. What happens is once installed on the factory harness or a headlight wire harness upgrade kit it turns on the vehicle dash and fuel pump if you turn your headlights on or full the momentary high beam leaver. Just like if you where turn the key to the "On" position. This is all without the key in the ignition. Also if I turn the vehicle on turn the headlight on or hold the momentary high beam lever while shutting down the jeep and take the keys out then it stays on till the lights are turned off or lever is let go... WTF>? My jeep does not have short, or grounding issues. It runs fine and has no problems. I even tried it with and with out the DRL module (Canadian version xj) Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with these lights? They mention some vehicles need their "H4 Negative-Switched Headlight System Relay Wiring Harness Kit". I have just a amazon made in china wire harness upgrade.. it works but argues with the DRL relay so this is why I unhooked it. But like I said even with the factory wire harness it does the same thing.
How do they do with frosting up/melting snow in the winter
Just ordered these since they seem to be the cheapest pair with a good cutoff and beam pattern. Was looking into the JW Speaker 8900 evo2 for the same reason, but at over $600 a pair I couldn't justify it seeing as the headlights are just for on-road traffic use and don't have to be insanely bright. My front auxiliaries are tied into the high beam switch anyway. Hope the LOYOs last a while. I like that they don't require the flimsy stock chrome bracket to mount, so I wonder if making a rubber gasket for them to reduce the long term effect of vibration would be more effective than just torquing them down to the housing.
@WorkshoptoWilderness
Жыл бұрын
Ah nice, hopefully they work out well for you. The cutoff and brightness are nice because oncoming traffic aren't blinded. Some rubber would surely make it all a bit better with vibrations. Would be interesting to see what you come up with. I used radiator hose on my last set and that worked fine.

Help me understand, this is more than just plug and play, right? I bought this exact headlight. There are two other wires, I don't want to assume what they are. Can you break down whats needed for a switch from regular 99 headlight to this? How does the XJ relay come into play? I'm starting from square one. Never done this before. Help?
@WorkshoptoWilderness
Жыл бұрын
Hey, yeah they are basically plug and play unless you want to use the signal light. You have the three pin headlight connector from the jeep and that obviously just plugs straight into the lamp. There are two other wires coming from the jeep also, you don't need the blue one, just the brown one. The brown one plugs into the red wire on the headlight. The green wire on the headlight can be used for the signal lamp. To use this you must strip a brown wire going to your indicator bulb and splice the green wire in with solder etc. Then it will all work as it should. Just make sure you rap any unused connectors in tape so they don't cause any trouble
I bought some and one of the lights the ring doesnt light UP is there anything I can do?

Installed it today. I have the exactly same issue. Changed it to EP27 but no change. I spliced into the wires at the turn signal and it works when the bulbs are out as you have shown. Where have you spliced into? I think the way I spliced into I basically added the load in series causing too much voltage drop across, not activating the LED.
