I finally opened the Hasbro version last night, and was actually disappointed after comparing it to the super-poseable 2004 Toybiz version. The latter had articulation points beyond toeticulation that the 'updated' version lacked. So yeah, kinda paying attention to this. Could do without the return of ballish Toybiz shoulders.

The shoulders and neck don't look that good imo, will definitely pick this one up just so I can pose him with the tobey face,

Ikr the shoulders look a little too round for me

2:19 the neck on the spiderman with his mask is a little bit skinny

It looks like he is wearing a Spiderman sweater with the way the neck is.

I don't collect MAFEX because I don't even know where to display them all or I will be broke but I do think this Tobey Maguire Spider-Man from No Way Home will definitely be the very best Tobey Maguire Spider-Man more than the SHF Tobey Spider-Man figure despite the neck issue from Mafex.

I had the same exact thoughts when I saw this- reminded me of this tiny spiderman fig I had in like 2004 in terms of articulation aesthetic.

Instant buy because its Tobey! i think it wont be as posable as the SHF but i can display this one with the peter face and leave my figuarts in a more dynamic pose with the spidey mask on (which i think SHF did better too)

The collar is the only wonky thing for me

I think the fact that the head sculpts look good and this is a Tobey Spider Man, I'm already sold. Even with it's limitations or issues, I still love it overall. Curious how it will stand next to Legends and the Figuarts offerings.

why are you complaining about the leg hip articulation ? tobey spider-man was very limited to human proportions so it makes sense he is not overstrecthing like garfield or comics spider-man, also all mafex by standart have a pulldown hip balljoint. they were just trying to replicate poster shots from spider-man 2

I agree, BUT I will say as a Mafex shill, I do wish they’d go back to the softer crotch piece like on the Homecoming figure. It would kind of cave in when you articulate the legs up, but over time it’d still go back to normal after you bring the leg back down

Skipped on the shf for this. Not disappointed. Shoulders are kinda weird and the mask could be a bit better.I believe they will make improvements up until its release.I Pre ordered him on Amiami for 70€. I think he is still available on there

already have shf tobey and it is great. i don’t have any reason to get it. i’d probably choose shf over mafex if i didn’t have either

Despite the shoulders, I think this figure is better looking than SH and Marvel legends. I am happy with my marvel legends one though. The unmasked heads are spot on

Oh man I was hoping the mafex tobey would be no contest with the figuarts. Other than seemingly more saturated colors and slightly better proportions its not really looking better than figuarts.

I'm hoping they take a crack add Amazing Spider-Man look so weirdly blocky and so thin. Like I know he kind of looks like that in the movie but he has a little bit of muscle muscle

I would like to collect mafex figures but i been hearing people say they can break easily.

Picky? You dropped $100 on Hasbro 3pk then $75 on individuals that came with unmasked heads, this mafex comes with more accessories, better head sculpt, and in general mafex are better than SHF. The Caps, Ironman, Dr strange, Black Panther, and Cap Marvel figures are all better than SHF versions.

You buy the 3 pack, then blow $75 for the unmasked versions. Who the hell does that? This Mafex version is a turd that you want to sprinkle the turd with extra accessories doesn't take away the fact it's still a turd.

For anyone who didn’t get the shf:

I mean it's good but it has issues Texture is wrong Proportions are wrong and mainly the neck and shoulders look weird Crotch looks like a diaper from behind The back logo spider has raised edges for some reason and also is the same shade of red as the rest of the suit when it shouldn't I guess the articulation has some limitations judging from some of the promo pics The blue is dark and even kind of purple The mask is atrocious and has wrong color lenses and frames I bet the price will be ridiculously high On the other hand it has great accessories and headsculpts Beautiful shade of red It gets shading on the red parts (wish the same went for the blue as well) And a taller, more muscular physic ( which I'm not sure if it's accurate to the film but it's better this way)

I don't think it looks half bad, especially compared to the sh figuarts figure having a fucking THONG. This guy's also got a bit more of a v shape to his torso. The only issue is that the weblines on the head sculpt are really scrunched up around the nose like in No Way Home. It's accurate to the movie, but that doesn't mean it looks good. They should've made it look more like the raimi films. Also I say "around the nose" but he doesn't even have one. His face in profile view is almost completely flat. Just another way they fucked up his face in No Way Home.

so far Mefex is doing so much better than SH.Figuarts. Figuarts gives Tobey a dumb diapper where you can see all the joints on the legs

I don't know? MAFEX figures always look very gappy to me. I'm a lot like Todd McFarlane in this respect. I hate it when they sacrifice aesthetics for articulation. Now this is when some Wisenheimer tells me, "Then buy statues." Statues are expensive and I'm on an action figure budget. I don't take pictures of them. I don't play with them. I just want them to look cool on a shelf.

There are in fact afordable statues. Plus Mafex is a premium import brand and this figure will certainly be more expensive than some of them, soooo... I don't see your point at all. Speaking of McFarlane, he is launching a new line of Marvel statues, though I haven't checked the prices on them, not interested.

My opinion: looks-shf Accessories-mafex

So if this isn't the definitive figure of a tobey maguire spiderman then what is? Cause I have both the legends tobey and shf tobey and neither of those feel that great at least mine don't, since my shf tobey doesn't like to stand much and has some loose joints for being new.

The neck area definitely looks weird

Still better than the SHF. The colors, the crotch piece, and the Tobey head sculpts look miles better

For the price point, it needs to be better.

The SH figuarts one looks better.

Definitely, I got the Shf Tobey and that thing was super wobbly and loose after a week I sold it fast while it still had some value or broke or something

Wonky? The figure seems fine. The neck is a little off but not that bad. SH F has those weird hip joints and those are okay? You're being too hard on a figure you don't own yet.

Product shots exist to sell figures. These are terrible shots so it should be assumed the figure will also be on par with them (complete ass)

@@c.q.cumberton1203 Sometimes, photos don't always do justice for a figure. Some photos can make a good figure look bad. In hand, it can turn out to be better than in the photos. That happens with any line.

Neck and shoulders are horrible. Face sculpt spot on.

I’ve got the sh one. I’m gonna definitely pass on this one, it’s pretty ugly ino.

Genuinely insane how many Mafex glazers there are these days. This looks ugly as sin but their one defence is that it doesn’t have the SHF articulated cheeks, which are also way less noticeable than anything going on with the Mafex’s homunculus ass proportions

For what they are asking, the figure looks weak. Weird shoulders, odd looking neck, and the ball joints at anckles look terrible.

Imo the Figuarts one looks better. The neck and shoulders on the Mafex version look ugly. I’ll take the Figuarts one over this even with the “thong” lower part. 😂

WTF?!? Are you only just seeing Mafex's sh#tty shoulders for the first time or something?!? THAT is the reason I don't buy a ton of them! Their butterfly joints RUIN the figure imo. They did so with the classic comic Spidey too which I was truly dissapointed with. The butterfly cuts are cut TOO HIGH toward the neck and with the tight weblines around the neck. make him look like he's wearing a turtleneck singlet or tank-top ffs!! On top of that the butterfly's are sunken too low, causing heaps of gappage. In terms of the shoulders/butterfly joints I MUCH prefer Figuarts' designs any day of the week. ...I simply cannot look at a Mafex figure (especially Spidey) and not see someone wearing a fking midriff tank-top fgs!! 🤦‍♂-Any heroic action figure that doesn't achieve broad, strong shoulders is an absolute fail, there's no two ways about it!
