Sophia was the most savage to me. All the ladies had witty comebacks, but Sophia would always have me rolling. As a kid, I hated this show but it was one of my granny's fave. Rediscovered the show on Hulu about 1.5 yrs ago and understood why my granny loved it.

All of them had savage moments lol rose isn’t that innocent she used to go off😂😂 Blanche is my fav thought but I love all the ladies.

She was my favourite on the show, always reading everybody with no shame

I’m always amazed by how diverse the audience for this show is. Men, women. Gay, straight. Old/young. All races and nationalities. Conservatives and liberals. Everyone loves these old broads. 🥰

I knowww!!! Because it's actually humour and not something woke, I mean you can have gay characters to make see that they are normal people without damaging the humour or being woke and this is a perfect example!

It's true that Betty White and Rue McClanahan initially auditioned for each other's roles before getting switched in the end. Betty had played several different roles throughout her career in show business but she was very well known for her role in the Mary Tyler Moore show (very similar to Rue's role as Blanche) lol And yeah you've watched a lot but you have about 5 more seasons to go and it just gets better with each one.

Betty and Rue switched it themselves. Rue had played the dummy in Maude and didn't want to be the dumb character anymore. Rue was also the one who talked Bea into working with her again by insisting she try out for Dorothy. Bea wasn't going to initially. I think the last two seasons were the worst. Bea wanted to leave at season 5 but held on for two more years. The writing got very lazy and didn't make sense. For example, Dorothy and Stan were married for 38 years but their oldest at one season was 29 another season 22 when he got married. Dorothy only got married because she was pregnant so that would make the oldest child near 40. Bea wanted to leave because of bad writing and she was tired of having her looks dragged on the show.

These woman played their parts to perfection.

There's a large population of elderly people who end up with STD's because they don't think they need them.

FACTS! I saw that on a news report taking about retirement homes a good 10 or more yrs ago and I was shocked! I didn't think old people had sex. This was before viagra was a common thing so I didn't think they could.

My grandmother loved this show. She was always watching it when I stay at her house when I was a kid. Another good show that had Betty White in it is "Hot in Cleveland". It's basically an updated version of Golden Girls, but with different characters. Betty White is like the new Sophia in that show.

I love golden girls I use to watch the reruns growing up as a kid. Rose was always my favorite (R.I.P. Betty White) I use to love when she would tell her non sensical stories about St. Olaf that had absolutely nothing to do with what they were discussing at the time! She was too funny!

The writing and acting have held up over the years. It's still edgy and funny.

Started watching them when I was pregnant with my now 18 year old and still watching 19 years later. Too funny all of them. RIP Golden Girls!

This was my favorite comedy growing up! Bea Arthur was amazing! I’m definitely the Dorothy of my fam and my mother is Sofia. They truly were the BEST! 😍😍😍

You mentioned the Blanche pregnancy episode and about how old she was and what is crazy is how much older they all seemed to be. Rue was only 51 when GG premiered same age as Mariah Carey and a year younger than JLo!!!

Sophia and Dorothy had them girls in a chokehold with those comebacks lol. I feel like the writers gave Blanche and Rose more comebacks in the later seasons but overall love these ladies!

She definitely was a Baddie . And Yes she did . Her Style was Impeccable ! The Wardrobe Designer Styled Rue the best as Blanche out of all the girls in my opinion . I did like some of Dorothy’s Outfits and Accessories here and there in some Episodes . Overall though Blanche was my favorite.

So good to see young people like you, enjoying some of the best comedy of my era. Have you watched Bea Arthur (Dorothy) then you really should watch her in the 70s sitcom called Maud. She was a typical 70s feminist....and we loved her for it. She has the same sarcasm as she has in Golden Girls. I think you'd like it. Her catch phrase was 'God'll get you for that Walter' which she said frequently to her poor husband. Funny show.

I had a teacher in the 6th Grade who was around the same age as these wonderful ladies her name was Ms. Atlas. She was alittle heavy short with white hair and she was funny as hell. The stuff that she would say woth no expression was freaken hilarious. My favorite teacher ever! Oh wait and Joe Carbone my college music teacher. He was hilarious too.
