Lol I always thought of that and I was like "We never locked the door why can't Seek just open it?"

It would’ve been better ending of the seek chase if a hand of seek from the wall accidentally hit Seek and then he went underground after looking at u for 2 seconds

I’m pretty sure the reason why is that guiding light holds the door shut until seek leaves

He can’t break the door probably due to some supernatural force preventing him. e.g Guiding Light or some other entity we are not aware of.

My theory is that Guiding Light actually shuts the door so Seek can't catch us. It did something similar with Figure, by knocking down a lamp to distract it so we don't die after we enter the library.
