Just finished this job myself on my 2011, but I used 3 inches of heat shrink on each wire starting at the end of the pin where the wire crimps on after depinning the connector to add extra protection and rigidity instead of wrapping the bundle with plastic like you did. I wanted to keep a little bit of give to the run itself as otherwise that flex just gets transferred to end of the pin where each wire connects and that becomes the weak point. With my repair that point is now held snug by 3mm of shrink wrap, which should hold it for at least another decade. Thanks for this detailed video and comments.

Thank you. This was exactly what happened to my 2011 F-150 crew cab. Ford charged me $358 to solder and shrink tube and they broke a year later, I watched your video and I saved $$$.

Hi Shawn! I have a 2010 Ford F150...and guess what...about 6 months ago the rear window behind the driver's seat stopped working. I was looking for a replacement accentuator work the lock and unlock feature. It was a REAL pain to do it manually!! I love KZread so I checked out videos to trouble shoot this problem. I came across your video....and watched it 3 or 4 times...and thought...why not check into the possibility...and low and behold....I had the SAME problem!! When I opened up the wiring harness assembly...the Grey and the white wire were snapped off at the connector. Once I found something tiny enough to release the prongs if the two broken wires I soldered on a 1 inch piece of wire...then ran the two bare ends into a butt connector....put the key into the ignition...and...the lock worked!! I loved your video presentation...it was like you were right next to me helping every step of the way! Thanks for making it possible for me to do this trouble shoot and repair...with ALL your tips along the way!! Not to mention all the bucks I saved!! Whenever you come up to the "North Country" look me up and we will crack open a couple of ice cold pops and do some pickerel fishing!! All the Best!!

Where can I get those metal pins for the wire terminal?

Unfortunately I have no idea, probably a specialty store for electronics. I try to ensure connectors are NOT wrecked, have a little wire left on to solder to or if all else fails carefully open the clamp and replace and solder the wire.

Thanks for the video, very informative. The plastic/teflon reinforcement that was bent, could you have heated it up and straightened it or did the plastic bottle sleeve work better?

Depends on the plastic; some plastics can be molded or reshaped with a little heat; others are not. The plastic utilized with my Ford, looked to be teflon; which would not re-shape properly in my experience .

That piece of stiffener Teflon most likely caused the breakage in my opinion. My 5 wires were all broken exactly at end of that piece. We used heat shrink butt connectors then taped all of the wires. Excellent video, great tips especially on how to remove connector in B-Pillar which we didn’t do.

Thank you for sharing this video. What would the part be called if I just wanted to replace it all instead of soldering it?

it would be called a passenger or driver door wire harness. talk to your Ford service department. The ones in Victoria BC are great to talk to.

I purchases the front left door wire harness assembly for my 2008 ford f150, but can't find where the boss end of the harness pigtail goes? Not sure if its behind the firewall in the cab, or emergency brake assembly. Please help.

Late bloomer here, how has the engineered plastic sleeve held up? I am about to replace the whole harness in my truck and am thinking I should save myself future headaches and just cut the teflon rod out and do as you did. TIA!

Ny repair is still holding up. I had an issue with another door and used plastic from plastic bottle followed by a single wrap of electrical tape... slides in the rubber bellows with little to no issues.

Did you have to remove the cable or could you just have slid the connector out and repaired it that way?

I ended up just replacing the harness because i'm not great at wiring. However now everything works except it still has the door ajar light. Any ideas on how to fix that? I wonder if there is tension on the harness or something
