So with the driver’s side modification to the wiring you just ran the ground going through the led and not taped into it?

When you cut the wires , did you twist both the black and orange together and just put electrical tape to hold together?

Thank You for specificing which wire is what. White with black stripe. I was able to fix my adapter and kit based on your directions. Small Side Note... Your thoughts on making them dimmable won't work using the wiring of the driver side window switch, cause none of the other window switches dim when the wheel is toggled. Cool idea though. 😿

Great video. I just added all 4 lighted window switches to my 2021 RAV4 XLE. If I want to add the door handle lights, do I just piggyback the harness on the passenger and back seat window switches?

Yea. They are different and independent accessories.

I have a 2022 rav4 plugin hybrid and when i installed the door handle light, the 3 passenger’s windows switches are no more lighted. Any suggestion to modify the wiring ? Drivers side works perfect without any modification. Thanks.

I honestly have not looked into it. A solution would be possible for the driver door since there is dimmable window switch, but not for the other doors so I haven’t tackled this project any further. Feels like it would require re-wiring which would be hell going through the door pin grommet system.

Found this video to be great and inspired me to buy it. If I read the description on Amazon, it says it’s for RAV4 XSE, XLE Premium, and Limited. I have a regular XLE and the plugs don’t fit. You’re gonna need to change your description because it doesn’t fit on all of the RAV4 trims

@@Rav4Gen5 unfortunately I already returned the product back to Amazon. I can tell you the pin connectors were smaller than the connectors for the window switches. Also, the connectors to the original wiring were the exact same size as the product.

Would you mind posting the part numbers for your switches? They look like the illuminated kind from Toyota and I am looking for the OE part numbers. Thanks!

What trim is this, adventure? It's worth noting that some models don't have a dimmer wire ran to passenger or rear door panels sadly which makes this retrofit a pain, I have a Hybrid Limited and it's missing that wire sadly, luckily I tapped into the heated seat button but that required some clever depinning of the harness and just taping it into that connector instead.

Your comment is interesting. Are you suggesting you know which wire is the dimmer wire? Because these lights do not dim with the rolling knob by the steering wheel (Adventure Trim).

​@@Rav4Gen5 everything but the passenger side on my car seems to have an illumination ground wire, I am lucky I think because I have heated seat buttons. You just need any accessory 12V and that wire. After rigging wiring up the three door handles last night I still need to trace the illumination wire to run it into the passenger door. I suspect it's under the glovebox somewhere.

@@Rav4Gen5 I'm also likely going to add a 1ohm resistor into the mix, these are too bright as is, and toying around with the dimmer I want about a 4V voltage drop to get the desired max illumination.

Have you figured out the dimming issue? I just got these and was planning on installing this weekend but would definitely prefer to have that functionality

Theres 3 leds on each light right? I was just thinking that maybe somehow u can cover the other one or two like may tape over it or paint over it? That way the lights are not too bright. Imo. i could ne be wrong.

Probably not. I don't think they are the same size or connection.

WARNING: this mod will render the Rav4 power side mirrors inoperable depending on the car software version. I had my 2021 Rav4 software updated in Apr. 2021. The power side mirrors became inoperable afterward. After some detective works, Toyota determined that the cause was this LED modification. The power mirrors work again after they uninstalled this mod. The unfortunate side effect is that it cost me a bundle for Toyota to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
