Well, it is a bit more layered than that. Doomsday was a genetic experiment on a prehistoric Krypton by the scientist Burtron. This was achieved through 30+ years of death, cloning, and modification. Despite Doomsday looking like a mindless killing machine, he remembered every time he was killed and cloned, which genetically programmed him to hate everything that lived.

So this tribute is all about the doomsday the way how doomsday is facing superman from the movie and clips from justice league and justice league unlimited the flash could have been helping the man of steel to defeat Doomsday.
