John Peel was a legend. He played music from bands that most other DJ's wouldn't.
the black Sabbath riff and then the growl at 0:30 : Uuuuaaaarghh !!! .... that alone is a shower of joy, raining down on me.

Tis is best Doom record to me. I have listen to this over 20 years. This was first Doom record that I got. This is why I love it. In Crust We Trust!!!
When i was 13 I walked into a record store and got Crass best before 84 and Doom peel Sessions. The moment i heard this album changed my life..

Lucky. Took me until my mid 30s to discover them.
I think Doom’s interpretation of ‘symptom of the universe’ proves that Sabbath kinda started it all! It sounds fresh reimagined as grindcore as it does the original.

What a great recording. I'm blown away every time I come back to it. Thanks Rick, for this and all the other great uploads you share in your channel. Hails!
Takes me back to a simpler time. I can't believe I'm saying that. It was definitely more complex socially.
Me and my mate Dean used to make tapes of UKHC Peel Sessions and listening to a massive array of different bands n artists but I remember the first Peel Sessions compilation and its red n black cover with the UKHC grind etc bands Doom Extreme Noise Terror Electro Hippies Napalm Death Dr and the Crippens Stupids Bolt Thrower and maybe Intense Degree I terrorized my musically redundant family with all these bands RIP John Peel you gave us hope
Thank you very much for uploading this great album! Love it ever since 1992
I remember recording the first session on tape cassette the night it originally aired. I even captured the weird wobble on “Relief”...
I never heard this Doom. I don't know why it sounds so good.

Their best songs for sure + their best performance.... what a pleasure !!
the bbc recorded them like no else ever managed to do... such quality and grunginess
This band is awesome, and I think everybody who likes heavy music should respect and lov'em.
at last! a decent audio posting of this. thanx
Yeah he did a lot for this type of music and any music related to it by giving them their much deserved radio air time. You'd never hear this on terrestrial radio back then and today, you still won't. FM radio just doesn't have the balls that John Peel did.
Every Peel session is fucking gold. Napalm, Carcass, Heresy, ENT, fuck Peel had good taste in music. I had no idea doom had a peel session. These peel sessions all captured these amazing bands in their prime with raw fucking live production.

Anyone remember the 1998 skate video by Sheppard Fairley which had this on the soundtrack?

Badass! Doom is my favorite Crust band.
Other way round. Max wears Doom shirts all the time and Nailbomb covered Exploitation - the second song on this album.
"Doom - Peel Sessions" and "E.N.T. - Phonophobia" are the best old school crust albums
This was a coveted album when I was a youngster. Great music, and great words behind it!!!!!!
ANY fuckin' album that starts with a cover of a Black Sabbath classic, is more than welcome to be heard in my eardrums.
People who love music listen to music in different languages, and if they want to really know the lyrics, do they research.
I don't know why I like this.. but I do.

Dear sir, I am not a youtube arguer, I just wanted to inform you that while Doom and Sepultura were in fact active at the same time in the late 80's, Sepultura was at that point a Thrash band, and only became more punk oriented in the very end of the 80's and early 90's, and were very likely influenced BY Doom!!! That is all, good day.
Jeez I forgot about these guys .I was 18 when this was done
in crust we trust !
Great song! I remenber ratos de porão.
By far their best recording, possibly minus the Police Bastard 7". I've played this more than any other peel session - and thats including the E.N.T. one.

this is not crossover grind/trash. This is crust punk, which existed at the same time grind and thrash were invented. Grind and thrash bands were influenced by the first crust bands like Discharge.

I like Black Sabbath and THIS band and my comment was just an analysis of the song by a guy, who listens to this music AND is a musician himself. "It´s so much fun , to play this song !" , that´s what I wanted to say .

***** Hellbastard are credited with first using the term crust (Ripper Crust demo), but Amebix were definitely genre pioneers, along with Antisect. Crust punk today is nothing more than a fashion, kids don't have a clue. They have totally missed the point.
@johnelliott273

Mooney Blinded No such term as crust when i was about in 88 in Bradford seeing stuff like Doom and Deviated Instinct in the 1 in 12 club or queens hall cellar bar. It was UK hardcore, in the vein of napalm death, carcass, electro hippies. We called it dog on a rope punk, John peel called it UK hardcore. Crust was never mentioned sorry.

Well fucking said. Sorry if that was too fuzzy for some people....
When was it released?
was my best friends lil jays favorite band. he died riding boxcars. he had a doom tattoo on the back of his neck. his mom in law wrote his auto bio; railroad man. check it out.
If Doom wanted to, they could be better musically, they have been around for such a long time. Buy they play crust punk. And they play it the proper way. Sepultura is a metal band.
You can actually understand this guy really well....compared to lets say E.N.T or Contravene or Disclose or Disrupt....Literally cannot understand a word they sing unless you have lyrics in front of you hahahaha its GREAT
