Have you or Ribbiks ever been interviewed? I've been watching decino's playthrough and the megawad is impressive, aesthetically is very very interesting. Personal note: I like Doom, ok, but the Doom scene... The Doom scene is out of this world.

That sea of lost souls slowly spreading overhead from 38:00 onwards is one of the most visually impressive things I've seen in a doom map.

45:42 The way he nails that lost soul so nonchalantly after enduring 45 minutes of pure pain makes me crack up for some reason. Such a fitting final kill.

At this point you're pretty much obligated to have decino firing a BFG into a big mess of archviles. They are being greeted. ( had a big dumb Dwarf Fortress art joke typed up but thought that might be overworking it a bit)

He's done it. The mad lad. Let it be known Decino does not have to survive Sunlust. Sunlust has to suvive Decino. He's the boss of this brutally difficult wad and he started with a pistol and no saves. 100%'d including all the babes at Quakecon.

I took that many attempts for levels of going down that decino beat on first try blind runs. Man's nuts.

Alright, I tried to count. The number of deaths, not counting practice runs. 31 in blind runs, and 115 deaths during the single segment attempts. Over half of those were on map 28. Total is 146. The breakdown: 5: 3 deaths 6: 1 death 7: 1 death 8: 1 death 9: 5 deaths 10: 1 death 11: 1 death 13: 1 death 14: 1 death 15: 1 death 31: 1 death 32: 16 deaths 16: 1 death 17: 1 death 18: 1 death 19: 1 death 20: 1 death 21: 1 death 22, 1 death 23: 4 blind, 2 after practice 24: 7 deaths 25: no blind, 1 practiced 26: 8 deaths 27: 2 blind deaths 28: 4 blind, 59(!) deaths after practicing 29: no blind, 19 deaths 30: no blind, 16 deaths It really shows how a few levels really amped up in difficulty. Or alternatively, how much of an outlier 28 was.

The reviving corpses are both a really neat way to show you what you're about to fight before they revive and a really creepy effect.

Holy moly, the theatricality. The way that the machine gives and takes life as it runs. Sacrificing titans at the altar to claim their souls. And the final assault on the core. What a work of art.

Fun fact: In the L-shaped room with tons of Knights and Barons, on Easy, there's a Cyber-Demon -- but he makes the fight easier. Sunlust creators adjusted the difficulty leves in intresting ways. Someone even made a vid about it.

Also, Tatsuya did a playthrough in Zdoom with saves. That port counts souls towards the kill count, and by the end the pain ellies in his playthrough pooped out 4k souls. Fun stuff.

"have your BFG ready cuz sometimes a group of revenants will get in your face" Yeah it is pretty annoying, sometimes i go to my backyard and there is some revenants

I'm so impressed with this wad, it definitely could have been sold right along side Doom II or as a sequel. The music in map 30 is perfect, and the map is insane, complete work of art. Your skill level also made it really fun to watch the entire game through

I don't think I've ever heard decino get quite this shaken by a Doom map. Sunlust is insane, and decino is an absolute beast for conquering it.

WOO I BEAT SUNLUST!! Just came on here to celebrate cause idk where else to, all my friends play fortnite :/ All thanks to Decino and his playthrough for the many times i used it as a walkthrough. I can't believe i beat it I'm so happy! 10 months ago i was playing through doom 2, with continuous play, mid-fight saves, and a controller (cringe). I switched to kb+m, got better at the game, stopped saving mid-fights, and now after Plutonia, Valiant, Eviternity, and Sunlust i can definitely say Doom 2 is one of my favorite games of all time. Thanks Decino for all you do, without your channel I'd never would've found this amazing game and community!

The honey block aesthetic was an interesting choice for this level but I guess that's why the WAD was called SunLust; bees like the sun

I just finished this level with... an ungodly amount of saves and deaths. Watching this again honestly makes it all the more impressive. Clearing this was an insane feat for me and made me feel amazing, I can't imagine how good it must've felt when you stepped into that elevator.

decino, your content has inspired me to get into custom DOOM 2 WADS. I'm starting with Eviternity and trying for UVMax single segment/pistol start. I've been using IDCLEV to reset my inventory between levels, but is there a more efficient way to do it (such as a launch parameter)? Also, is there a good guide/FAQ to help with troubleshooting PrBoom+ settings? I'm getting some minor visual glitches in Eviternity, such as flickering torches. Your content and your skill is marvelous to behold, keep up the great work man!

There is,you can even record demos on different levels you warped to! Make a shortcut to glboom and add after the directory/glboom.exe -iwad doom2.wad -file eviternity.wad -complevel 11 -skill x -warp y. You could also add -record demoname to the parameters

In PrBoom+ there's a hotkey to restart the current level, I think it's the Home key by default.

Also, try using glboom as opposed to prboom plus to solve the gfx glitch. If that doesnt help, maybe download a different version from the sourceforge page

I don't think there was any doubt Decino could actually beat this wad. The skill level was always there. It's the patience that really shone here though. Any mad lad that can replay a level from pistol start over 50 times deserves the win.

This is a real gamer moment, i actually cried Decino, this is beautiful content, i loved this playthrough so much... This was amazing, you made this so awesome...i am speechless. Please decino never stop, you are the best.

i think its why doom 64 and psx doom went for ambient music instead regular doom music is good but when you hear on loop 8 times on the same level it is grating

@@ginger15103 like for short levels sure whatever. Belly of the beast is a fantastic TNT track for example but the fact it's mixed wayyyy too loud and it appears on the most hated slogs of maps (Mt Fkn Pain for example) makes people cringe whenever they hear it.

God Machine was more than I ever imagined it to be. What a haunting, beautiful level. The creepy revive mechanics, the droning background music, the dark, yellow-lit halls of a monolithic computer, and all topped off with that map title: GOD MACHINE. Difficulty aside, this may be the best map I've ever seen.

Man the Genuine fear and stress in his voice during the final arena is something I never would have expected to hear from decino

Just finished God Machine on UV Pistol Start with saves (LOTS of saves lol). It's just amazing. Sunlust as a whole is a masterpiece, and your playthrough was entertaining and helpful (map 29 was especially helpful). Thanks Decino the madlad!

Also, glad to hear renovations at your place are almost over, as the saying goes, there truly is no place like home. And props to your mom for letting you play at her house, especially the last few maps, because there was a lot of frustration and some swearing... i wouldnt get away with it, even at my age (30 y.o.+) ;)
