    I'm glad more people are starting to be more critical of Eternal. It's a damn good game, but it ain't perfect. To be honest, the only massive improvement the game makes is in terms of gameplay, the story, atmosphere and nuance just got shoved to the side.

    With the DLCs, it kinda just felt like they wanted to dump story-advancing stuff in it, instead of taking their time.

    They kinda had to, both DLCs had to be out within a year of the game's release because of the stupid "1 year pass" thing on steam. Hell, the Dark Lord's boss fight was changed because of this.

    This video is very good, you didn't go there and say "has flaws it's rubbish" with an emotionless voice, like some other critics. This video has humor and criticism. Somethings like the design of the demons and how the story was told I don't agree, because we have new monsters like whiplash and carcass that are out of the norm, but Doom never had very different designed enemies other than baby in doom 3 they were all pretty basic and I don't think the developers wanted to go a VERY different path like doom 3 did, and the story I think is pretty good, it has what you need in a doom game, and the story being told by files is basically all the things the doom franchise has done with its story since the 93 game, the part of the story that was bad for me was the resolution in TAG 2, but that's just me. But even with that disagreement, I still like the video, again, it's a video made by a passionate fan of the game who just wants to emphasize this by criticizing it, just to improve it. But the best part of this video for me, is the comments section, because it's the doom community in its purest form, people talking about how they love the review and the game, not just a bunch of idiots talking shit about something that they do not agree.

    I’m honestly fine with the UI I think it does a good job communicating with the player and I personally really like eternal’s enemy designs I think they’re very unique. I agree with everything else tho

    Just to react to the Creature design it's a design choice. Because they wanted to make the most gore with the least unerving atmosphere. They succeed. This is the problem. Because everything is this bland mush. The story is the pinacle of what a 9 year old thinks is badass. Like the developers asked a kid and he replied: yu yu you know what would be badaaaass?! I I if Hayden wo would be a a ANGEL! THATS SO COOL! and there is a biGGer "badder" angle and a GUY with a big MECH SUIT an an and you know what? Vega is the actual GOD!!?

    i agree with most things in this video, except for the hud and demon designs. the hud could use a rework, but its workable in its current state, and the demon designs are a bit lack luster. sure they look cool, and their functions are unique to one another that throwing one of each in an arena can give you a rough time. but yeah they are all either bipedal or a floating meatball. as its stands, these 2 things are okay, but i agree 100% with everything else said in this video

    Hey, great video. Really nice! I think you're right on the story, for the most part, but since a lot of it just served the gameplay I think it's a worthwhile tradeoff. It is truly lame that we teleport around all over the place in terms of story, but in terms of making the game more varied and giving each level an identity, it's great. The idea of the story being a 3 (to 6?!) game series is insane to me because the WORST part of DOOM 4 was spending 50% of it in red, rust and grey levels, 45% in brown, grey and green levels, and maybe 5% of total playtime in a snowy area. DOOM Eternal has a bunch of different locales, and I'd rather blast through them and sacrifice the story a bit then slog through a full game of one planet and get a Better story that I'll probably skip anyways. Your idea for the tutorials is great though. IDK why they couldn't just do that. Text boxes are so lame.

    DOOM Eternal's main problem is the lack of multiplayer options, even thought DOOM 2016 multiplayer isn't that great, it's far better than DOOM Eternal Battlemode, imagine how fucking awesome Deathmatch or other gamemodes would be in DOOM Eternal. Lack of modding/mapping is also big problem, (I know people can make mods but it isn't really accesible) with mapping and modding tools DOOM Eternal will truly become Eternal. Story needs improvement aswell, DOOM 2016 did it well, (not perfectly tho) they way Slayer and Samuel communicated to each other was fun to watch, Slayer's movements showed what he really wanted to say, same thing happens in Eternal but it's kinda left out and forgotten later in campaign, instead you hear Samuel Hayden, Khan Maykr, Intern and etc talk some stuff. Overall I really liked your "review", haven't heard anyone mention these problems in details. (I fuck up while typing huge sentences, im sorry lol)

    I feel like with the tutorials, the devs wanted you to treat your first play through of the campaign like a tutorial. Kind of like Devil May Cry or any other character action game, where your first play through is you getting new weapons and buying moves/upgrades. And then once you finish the first play through, you can now switch to higher difficulties and tackle them now that you have everything you need to do so. This isn’t me trying to defend the tutorials, it’s just me trying to understand why the tutorial pop ups even exist, I agree with everything that you said and I think they did them poorly. My personal biggest issue would have to be the rpg like upgrade menus. Suit upgrades, sentinel crystals, weapon upgrades, all this stuff just feels pointless and tacked on for the sake of dragging out playtime, and it cripples the game play until you get it all. Like why are there upgrades for the rad suit of all things? You know, that thing that only appears in one or two sections? And why lock away important stuff like faster weapon or mod swaps as upgrades? And while I think the runes are fine, why make air control a rune at all?

    customization and progression go hand in hand, and for me that's what increases the replay factor for me, picking up new clothes and trying them on

    At 1:32 you say it’s too cluttered but you can change the size of the hud size to make a quick check to see and putting the equipment on the top right could interfere the design was to not stop the gameplay in the middle of the battle thats why there put together

    Extremely well done. I disagree on a few points, but I do fully agree on the story. The game does things mostly to impress the player while ignoring its own lore. Then you have people with little reading comprehension that misinterpret DS’s strength. Don’t even get me started on all the lore answered in a goddamn livestream or interview instead of the game itself and people thinking that they are canon. The implications are so stupid that its headache inducing. I heavily disagree with the “hello and welcome “ though.

    This video was fire like the takis I was eating while watching this. And I never really realized the points you made about the story until now, cus yea Vega literally being god and Hayden being an angel just didn’t really hit that hard and wasn’t jaw dropping like it should’ve been. Cause there was no build up to it cause it all happened in the DLC…

    I don't know, i feel like the game benefits from having a rushed story where you just visit cool locations and do cool stuff at a rapid pace. DOOM 2016s levels felt a bit boring because it's all the same facility. Most players don't care about the lore and they appreciate cool locations way more than them making sense. I love the game so i looked into the lire and story a bit deeper through youtube breakthroughs and it's still pretty fun even if it's not the best. It's better for them to neglect the story and focus on gameplay than to put too much wffort into the story and the gameplay suffer for lack of resources.

    I would like to get new skin models and customize them my self, add effects, change slayer helmet to different one and change colors. The same goes with weapons and their energy colors for example. And yeah multiplayer is just meeeeh.... I prefered Doom 2016 multiplayer style. Just one game mode battlemode gets boring for me really quickly.

    now it could be that im just an impatient mofo and if i cant skip cutscenes i dont even bother with the story, but to me the story/lore was fine and it was on the same quality as D2016, the UI was fine imo and demon designs where ok, the multiplayer criticism is fair as are the rest. people didnt think id could improve on D2016 so imo its possible for id to do it again, remember that pre D2016 id was for a lack of a better term shy, and now the dev team is more confident, regardless of if they are working on the next doom, quake, or even a new ip, im excited.

    I really don't have a problem with the lore and story but the multiplayer eh I got into it I learned how to git gud at it but still if you ask would I play ot again no since the deathmatch and coop mod where created I don't want to go back to battlemode and I think the UI is fine I don't want grenades up top since it would look a lot like the halo UI then

    I seriously hate this becouse on 5:57 he says to 'make the weakpoints a different color' but they literary show you on your first encounter. And its not like there going to aim for the weak poibts, there just going to vaporise it

    No actual Doom player cares about the world you're destroying or the characters that either betray you and/or want to kill you. I think TAG 1 is awesome so far.

    Doom Eternal is pure GARBAGE. It's the biggest Id Software's fake ever and the worst Doom game of all times. It's horrible in terms of lore and gameplay. Doom was never about combos or playing the way others think you should. Doom was about getting a 12 gauge, double barreled SSG and razing Hell like a man. Only people who knows nothing about the 90'S and about JOHN ROMERO believe Doom Eternal is really a true Doom game like Ultimate Doom 1995 or Doom 64. DOOM ETERNAL IS BUT GARBAGE.

    Well DE is incredibly flawed I do agree with a good few of the points when it comes to style and story but the gameplay is so damn good that it can easily mitigate that stuff.

    adding solid color weak points seems like a good idea for a mod but it is something that ID is definitely not going to add because it would make the game too easy and I don't read the codex but as someone with horrible vision I think the idea of adding a narrator for the codex is a great idea but like most game studios ID is very busy

    One of the creators even stated story in a video game is like story in a porno lmao. Now while that isn’t true for all genres and arcade shooter really shouldn’t focus on story.

    Well, if you want Doom to be a story, Doom is not for you. Lets not ruin it by giving it a serious story and turning it into every other game out there and focus on characters and places. None of that really matters in Doom. You see a demon...kill it. See a Hell portal...close it. That's all Doom is. Ever.

    I only hope the next Doom will remove/NO MONKEY Bars ingame. The whole jumping feature, eh, what is this Mario. It's certainly not a perfect game, but surely also one of the very best there is in shooter genre. But yes it has it flaws, and for me it is those jumping puzzles. And can Doom get back to it's horror roots please. Doom Eternal became more of a Metroid game then Doom. Doom 2016 did it better Doom 3 even more so. hell I'll settle for classic doom even. (still simply the best) But ok DE is great, but the next Doom need more improvements and better story. HORROR.
