the reason why the battle system looks that way it does and why the battle screen is kinda small is for the aesthetic. No other reason I'm pretty sure. also, I'm pretty sure that the system designed in project pokemon itself was designed to look the gen 3 pokemon games

I still think it's amazing that doodle world was the pokémon project
5:02 Hides battle UI elements when they're not in use, and full screen would be very awkward to look at, also since its UI deleting it shows the the camera view You could alternatively move the elements into the box and use a blurred fullscreen background
