Today i tell you why i dont think you should buy readymade ssamjang from the store and how you can make a way tastier ssamjang at home.
Recipe featured in this video:
1 tablespoon Doenjang
1/2 tablespoon Gochujang (use more or less depending on spice preference)
1 teaspoon sweetener (i used honey, you can use syrup to make this vegan)
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 green section of a spring onion
1 teaspoon sesame oil

that was the exact vibe i was going for 😄
Couldn’t agree with you more! I make my own just for the reasons you listed. I did the same in Korea as well. So glad you made this video; it’s great advice.
That's such a good idea, thank you so much! I didn't even think of making it myself. I never buy ssamjang because I don't eat it enough and don't want to throw it away, but I still crave it sometimes. Thank you!

You can use what you don’t to make a soup
I've had samjang on my grocery list for months but I couldn't remember why I put it on my list. This is mega helpful thanks.
Thank you! That was very helpful 😊
I love this! Can you try making homemade ice cream?? maybe try Korean flavors?
that made sense, although I go through that ssma jang tub in a month or two, hahah - still made sense to make it when you need it - and I get to experiment more on the 2 base ingredients - thanks bro
ok i love this idea
as korean. i will comment you bean paste. salty, flavor pepper paste. sweety, thickness peanut butter, seasame oil. flavor you can add any more spice or pastes you want. it's like pizza. you customize it. for example. you can syrup for your taste or crushed garlic or chopped onions. even mayonaise.
whats a good way to make gochujang less sweet? if possible
I always keep ssamjang in the fridge since I have it with everything. I'm not much of a cook, so I get the ones in the green tub from Emart.
I generally agree, but one thing I'm not sure of is adding sweetener. I think all 3 of those store bought condiments you mentioned have something like corn syrup included. Not sure whether premade ssamjang would have more or less than the two separate components. It's so hard finding food without any sweeteners, like sugar, aspartame, corn syrup, etc lol
Hey i purchased samjhang but it tastes really bitter not spicy ...and no matter how less quantity i put it tastes wierd and bitter!! I don't know what to do!!help me !
short but lots of info. nice one.
This remind me the moment I didn't have gochujang but using gochugaru instead. And I still don't have gochujang today
I was at a restaurant today and saw one of these. I was hoping to buy ssamjang, but only gochujang was available. Good thing that restaurant knows well.
I love ssamjang on sandwiches and scrambled eggs in addition to Korean barbecue so I will try this
Thank you for doing the Lord's work. I am at a supermarket right now in Malaysia figuring out if I need to buy one and thank God I won't. Keep up the Good work!
Your so underrated
me with the brown and red containers in my fridge , been thinking about that green container , now instead tomorrow im going to make this and a veggie plate to try and korean bbq maybe next week,
I just made ssamjang the other day for the first time and HOLY FUCKING SHIT CRACK
Nice
Can you eat expired ssamjang?
I approve this message! It's cheap and easy to make at home once someone has explained what the components of ssamjang actually are (like when you first figure out what prawn cocktail sauce actually is). Also, even though only a tiny amount is required when eating a 'lettuce-bulgogi bomb' it's NON-NEGOTIABLE that ssamjang gets an invite to the party. It changes everything, even that tiny dab of it. Magic.
I am the person who was both what is the stuff? And why shouldn't I buy the stuff?💀
Silly me, buying a green tub thinking it was doenjang. Too bad we are not allowed to eat it without doing korean BBQ, oh well... :D
Got really scared for a second

tricked ya!
My mom used applesauce as the sweetener
No wonder the store bought is not the same, was missing sesame seed oil.
쌈장은 원래 집에서 만들어 먹는게 맛있음 ㅇㅇ
I disagree. You can use the leftover ssamjang to eat with cut vegetable sticks as a snack 24/7. I like cucumber and carrot sticks dipped in ssamjang as a snack so it never goes moldy in my house.
I'm sorry, you're very similar to my image of the "dragon ball" Goku cast
Actually grocery ssamjang is more delicious, homemade doesn't taste the same.
Speak for yourself! I'm a Ssamjang addict. I eat it with a spoon.
