Thank you Japan for such a cool welcome to me for the concerts of 1973.
Now here in this 50th Anniversary release of the original song
selection, you can also see all Linda and I experienced on tour, in our
video YELLOW STAR, a hidden treasure unreleased until this year. With
great thanks to our film director and dear family friend, Anthony Foutz.
Also thanks to Josep Umbria who re-mastered the audio tapes and Bruce
Logan who restored the film.
But most of all thank you Linda, I am still ‘Living For The Love Light‘
in your eye!

I just fell in love with Donovan’s music in the last ten years, discovering his amazing songwriting, gorgeous lyrics, unique voice and style. Donovans guitar arrangements are gorgeous from this period - HMS donovan is a masterpiece - very talented man.
I was not expecting how strong my emotional response to this would be... Donovan has been a comforting voice to me since I was a child but something about his tenderness, vulnerability and softness here has brought tears to my eyes.

Would love to see the full show! I'll always be amazed by his voice. Absolutely incredible.
A lovely lilting melody and ofc Donovan's unique vocal inflections... Hearing this suddenly took me back to an almost forgotten period in popular music, that time just after the 1920's Jazz rage and before the Big Band era... The time of the romantic crooner... When the singing style was a smooth falsetto, set against romantic lyrics, with mellow (yellow😊) melodies... Arguably the first romantic period of the 20th century. One of the biggest stars to emerge was Bing Crosby who defined that era. By the 40s vocalist with a deep resonance like Frank Sanatra came into vogue and the high crooning style abandoned, unless you count Tiny Tim in the mid- late sixties and the short throw-back to 30s nostalgia...
