Poor English? Don’t be silly! You speak better English than some of us do! But as for Catch The Wind by Donovan, I remember sitting in the kitchen while my mum was preparing dinner, listening to the radio when this song was played. I was five years old when I then first heard it, and I (now in my 60s), still adore this wonderful song just as now as I did then, when my ears pricked up at the beautiful music I was listening to. And yes, as I grew older, like many people, I suffered the pangs of unrequited love. Catch The Wind is not the only masterpiece Donovan has performed, but in my humble opinion it was the greatest.

Fifty some years ago this was one of the first songs I learned to play on the guitar. Then I learned the harmonica part. Still love this song. Thanks for reacting to it. Glad you liked it, too. He has many more good songs. I'd like to suggest "Josie" and "Sunshine Superman". Great reaction.

I think you two should film a super romantic music video for this song. I was inspired by your black & white filter, very fitting to the song. :-) Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, not only for the memories of the song and the times, but also for the memories of a 16 yr old youth who sang this song in 1964 to , of course , an unrequited love. peace and love

I have always loved this beautiful song. So simple yet so poignant. He’s in love with this girl but, in his own mind, has no chance with her. BTW, you two are beautiful people. Please know that there are people out here who fully realize that.

We are living in meaner, hateful times. The era of peace and love seems to be truly over. Try not to let the trolls bring you down Savio and Kirti. Far more folks love what you do, then don't. Keep the music going, like this great tune!

I enjoy you two. Pay no attention to the negative comments. I admit sometimes I laugh at your interpretations but there is no malice in my heart. I am at least intelligent enough to understand that some things "get lost in translation" . Trying to understand art from another culture is not always intuitive; now add slang and idioms to the mix. I wish you and yours health and safety from Connecticut !

What is even more lovely is the fact he did get the girl he was singing about a few years later. He caught the wind and they are still together.

He was known for a while as the Scottish Bob Dylan, perhaps unfairly since although there are certainly influences he was a bit more than just that.

He certainly was a better singer than Dylan.😊 You might try Donovan’s, Hardy Gurdy Man. It has as couple of iconic musicians playing on it as backup.

Not only Donovan's first single, but the first song he wrote. This is the original single version from 1965, but more people probably know his, re-recorded for his 1969 Greatest Hits album, full band recording, which is nearly twice as long as this version, and sounds much less like a Bob Dylan folk song. The song became a modern classic very quickly, and cover versions starting appearing the same year it was released by artists like Johnny Rivers, and in following years by such artists as Paul Revere and the Raiders, Cher, Sammy Hagar, Glen Campbell, Peter Fonda, Eartha Kitt, John Waite and dozens of others.
