Great job on this video! 👍 Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge. Alot of folks will benefit from watching this. Another great way to put the e-clip back on the crank is to put the clip in the groove and then put the 19mm end of your sqrench over the clip and use it to put the clip the rest of the way on. This captures the clip and keeps it from flying off and getting lost. Especially in the woods. Wish I could put a Husky 372 clutch and drum on the Stihls.

I'm real happy I found this video, was getting ready to tear down my 365 special to see why it leaves a little puddle of oil anywhere it gets put down until you said they all tend to leak a bit. I'll just make sure there isn't any cracked hoses or glaring issues and if not I'll run it as usual but with little to no bar oil for storage. Really appreciate these videos, definitely going to stop by the shop to pick up some spare parts and a few other things in a couple weeks when I'm on the island

Hi Donny, Thanks for the great video! I have a new to me, 372XP and your video has helped me a lot so far. I seem to have excess oil leaking out of my feed hole. I have a puddle under my saw after a couple of hours, so thinking I may have an issue with the pump or something. When I last used the saw, I also noticed that the oil was getting VERY hot which I think was helped by a bad chain. I hope I didn't damage the piston. Any ideas on the excess oil leaking from the feed hole? Thanks in advance!

why couldn't oil tank venting be accomplished with a small drilled hole in top of the tank, under the muffler, plugged with a small cotter key like the older saws were outfitted? I checked on the vented caps you referenced and it looks like about $17 average. Nice video with lots of valuable instruction, thank you.

On the old Still 090 gear drive that I have, the cotter key breather will drip oil when the saw is turned on it's side when cutting. I drilled out the hole and put in an insert with a hole in it that holds a short piece of tubing with a screw in it. No more leak.

Maybe you can help me. I have a 445 that is not oiling the bar. I have replaced everything pertaining to the pump and the oil screen inside the sump is clean. There is no adjustment for oil feed on this model. I pressurized the oil sump and it blows out where the oil tube goes free and clear. The bar oil holes are clean as is the chain guide around the bar. From what I gathered the oil sump is not vented BUT my only clue is that with the oil pump assembly completely removed, and the saw laying oil pump/clutch side down on the bench, no oil flows out of the hole where the oil hose goes - until I open the oil fill cap on top at which time it flows freely out the bottom side. My only other clue is something called a duckbill, could this be the problem?

The worst Stihl bolt to remove is the rear bar screw on the 029 series of saws. Stihl uses, according to my information, green Locktite. Green Locktite is a permanent version of Locktite. You usually have to use heat to break the bond on this Locktite in order to remove the cylinder from this model of Stihl saws. I usually use blue (252) but on any part that gets hot I use red Locktite (271).
