Donny and Marie- Morning side of the mountain

Here are the lyrics.. :)
[Marie:] There was a girl
[Donny:] There was a boy
[Donny:]
There was a girl, there was a boy
If they had met they might have found a world of joy
But he lived on the morning side of the mountain
And she lived on the twilight side of the hill
[Marie:]
They never met, they never kissed
They will never know what happiness they've missed
'Cause he lived on the morningside of the mountain
And she lived on the twilight side of the hill
Both:
For love's a rose that never grows
Without the kiss of the morning dew
And every Jack must have a Jill
To know the thrill of a dream that comes true
[Donny:]
And you and I are just like they
For all we know our love is just a kiss away
[Marie:]
But you are on the morning side of the mountain
[Donny:]
And you are on the twilight side of the hill
Both:
And you and I are just like they
For all we know our love is just a kiss away
[Marie:]
But you are on the morning side of the mountain
[Donny:]
And you are on the twilight side of the hill
[Marie:]
There was a girl...
[Donny:]
There was a boy...

My mother bought a 45 rpm vinyl record of this song in 1974. I am so glad I can remember that and I experienced the greatest historical period of music: the 1970's!😁💖💖💖

I liked this song even before I knew the Osmonds were Mormons. But now my thoughts are, no matter your faith or the Osmond's faith, this music is much better than so many music of today..

I must admit I was more of a Led Zep/deep purple fan in the '70's but my best mate in high school adored them. The Osmonds was all she talked about...for a long time!! I didn't dislike them but was more into rock. Thanks to the Tube many years later, its like I have started really appreciating their refreshing songs. And yes, I do recall they were pretty good role models. Thumbs up to them.

Hi,I just read your comment and I feel the same. Takes me back to my youth and how happy I was to dress up like Marie Osmond and sing the Osmond hits. I want to cry too for lost youth and the innocence that the Osmonds reflected in their songs

What a wonderful time in our lives!! Broke my heart to hear Donny talk of all the pain he endured during his career..So glad he came full circle and realized that the ones who loved him in the beginning are the ones who love him still, after all these years :)

Donny and Marie Show was very popular in our country. It occupied the Prime Time Slot on Sunday Evening. What memories this video brings, reliving those days free from problems and stress.

I was 14 or 15 (depending on what time of year) this song came out. Marie had already had her smash hit "Paper Roses". Normally I hate country music, but I loved that song. I was a big Osmonds fan, so I loved it when Donnie & Marie started doing duets together.
