While the overall movie didn't deliver the way I was hoping it would, I consider this onscreen showdown between Donnie Yen and Andy On to be the 2nd best MMA Styled One on One fight ever committed to film. It uses authentic MMA techniques, presents all the ranges of combat, showcases stylized cinematic expression of the movements with longer takes, yet preserves authenticity and gritty realism.

Most of the Chinese movies fight scenes are real Donnie yen paying extra money to stuntman for kicking and punching real hardly

A real fight indeed. Andy was a formidable opponent for Donnie. In fact, Donnie admitted later he was briefly knocked unconscious by Andy during the filming.

Andy needs to be the star character in more major martial arts films, he's got serious skill. I have to be honest though, I think Legend Donnie Yen is better. That's why he won, if this is indeed a real fight like you suggest.

@@nathannelson6843 once Donnie Yen gets old enough and he's body performance couldn't keep up anymore then it's the time for Andy On to shine. Note that Andy On is 13 years younger than Donnie Yen. Prior to this Special ID movie Andy On had one major role in True Legend (2010). This is a fair world, everyone gets old. Even if you're a super fighter one day you'll get old and the younger ones surpass you.

i watch this movie in theatre..i really dont expect the fight scene was like a real pure MMA fight bcoz i expect the fight scene would be like wu xia and ip man with great choreography fight scene..donnie yen always bring sumthing new and fresh to us..sadly he is already in 50's and retiring soon..he already retired as ip man

That taekwondo jumping twin side kick at the end was awesome! After Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen is the second best martial artist and Chuck Norris is third place.

Who is this Jon Jones guy? I bet he wouldn't lay a hand on Chuck Norris or Donnie Yen, whoever he is. Chuck Norris in his prime was unbeatable and Donnie Yen is incredibly quick and agile, especially when fighting. 😆

Andy On is just like 2nd class of martial art actor. The only movie I saw him as main character is in "Black Mask 2" The first Black Mask movie was starring by Jet Li

Donnie took time off acting in the early 2000's to study MMA/Brazilian Jiujitsu extensivley, working his way to up a purple belt in BJJ. The HK industry chiefs have said when Donnie returned to Hong Kong and started making films again, such as SPL, Flashpoint, his new knowledge from what he had learned abroad was evident, given that many of his films incorporate a more realistic approach to fighting by interspersing more MMA orientated fights. Donnie is widely credited as the one who essentially brought MMA to the HK film industry.
