Honesty Pacino kills it in this film. Of course he plays Michael in The Godfather calm cunning and lethal. But his portrayal here is probably how most Mobsters are. Run down, broke, gambling addicts who live in tiny apartments.

@@princekareem6872 Agreed but still I bet even the bosses of some of these families are closer in feel to this character than Michael Corleone. They're more rough around the edges. Hardscrabble. I used to live in the Bronx and there was a restaurant that was owned by a captain in the Genovese family. Anyway I saw him outside once with his bodyguards and I could just tell immediately they were mobsters and one of the things that let me know was that they just looked like grizzled pieces of meat haha. Life is hard in the mob always looking over your shoulder for either the Feds or your friend who wants to kill you.

As a soldier in a crew, I am sure it is not always an easy life but as you progress up the chain things get better and the money gets bigger. Oh yeah, being a mobster is definitely stressful. You never know who to trust or who is plotting against you. To make money as a soldier or an associate in the mob you gotta get out there and earn. It is basically a license to steal. You can pretty much do what you want as long as you kick money up and don't step on anyone else's toes.

When you show them you can make food from raw ingredients and dress the plate really nice, make all kinds of desserts too, they take a back seat and play dumb so you keep doing the cooking. For me though, being raised by my Grandfather, this was normal to treat your girl well like that. He told me many times growing up, one thing you never want to wind up doing is housework, it'll kill you. He was right. I'd rather work a 12hr shift in a warehouse moving heavy boxes around than housework, it's back breaking and exhausting in ways i never knew possible LOL
