NO ONE gives better instructions than Donna. Anyone who is starting to quilt I advise to watch Donna’s videos. I’ve seen them all, some MANY times. She is the best instructor EVER! I’ve also printed all her free patterns and ordered several of the others. Jordan Fabrics is the best and their precut kits are perfectly cut! Thank you Jordan Fabrics!

This is not new. This is not a DJ pattern. She is demonstrating a ONE BLOCK WONDER PATTERN. Originally introduced to the sewing world by Bethany Reynolds. Teaquilts -a KZread sensation demonstrated this technique using a mirror for the selection of fabrics should also be credited for this ground breaking technique.

@@wendyo9030 The One Block Wonder book was written by Maxine Rosenthal. Perhaps you are thinking of the Stack and Whack technique from Bethany Reynolds' book. Clearly, nothing in the quilting world is truly "new". We don't know who made the first hexagon block, but many methods have evolved over the years to achieve them. Likewise, we don't know who first made a 9-patch block. There are many ways to arrange various geometric shapes into quilt blocks, and add sashing, borders, etc to go where one's imagination takes you. The quilts in this video use Donna's pattern.

@@dustykeele well. I do know who invented the cell phone. Potato chips, the ironing board, the traffic light. Jack Damiels, the KFC recipe, the peanut, soy, and made possible th he first successful open heart surgery. African Americans we get no credit or compensation. So it just proves many people do not receive credit for their inventions. Bethany Reynolds, is the originator, she sltill gets my vote!

Jordan, i have watched lots of videos on how to make a Kaleidoscope Quil. you are the only one that shows how to manage and sew the rows. All the other ones i watched, stops after sewing the two halves together and then say sew the rows and then shows a completed quilt. I have struggled to this point. I am going to start sewing the rows together and just want to say thank you.!

This is a fun quilt with so many options. You are fantastic in your instructions. I can understand and comprehend completely.

Added suggestion: If you make yours using a single fabric, include an uncut, intact piece on the backing to show the original fabric. Alternatively, use the intact fabric as your widest border.

Like the single fabric

It boggles my mind how you make the entire process look so simple and use the short cuts to cutting and sewing strips like you do!

Oh my gosh! I loved the quilt with one fabric the best. But all three were really neat and beautiful. Thank you for the free pattern and how to do the process. It will be a lot easier than trying to cut the fabric using a mirror to cut out the fabric. The mirror process is the only process I had seen before to get this Kaleidoscope look. Your process appears to be so much easier and less wasted fabric.

Love watching you teach. You are methodical and that helps people stay organized. I am, too, and find your videos very easy to follow because of that. I made one of these patterns years ago in a quilt class in Chico, CA (when I lived there), but it was a large floral in yellows and blues with cups and saucers in it. I named it "Grandmother's Dishes." Love this pattern. They all look so different. Thank you!
