A game for bongo enthusiasts everywhere.

Also the LOUDEST game ever. My nearest Toys R Us had a big, impressive Jungle Beat kiosk in the spring of '05. It felt so futuristic at the time. I thought it was the future of gaming and the Wii kinda proved that. About a year later my local Future Shop had the bundles on for $20 and I played the heck out of it. First time I did my mom thought I was trashing my room 😂

Oh heck yeah - I've gotten a few "what is going on down there" moments when I first got the bongos. It's an easy joke, but they're the most fun way to get evicted.

I had such deep-rooted animosity toward the game from the mistranslated interview that when I finally set out to properly play it, I was taken aback by how fun it was and had to come to terms with really enjoying nearly everything about it. This was years before the truth of the interview came to light, mind you, but it was after Donkey Kong Country Returns' release, which definitely helped let me make peace with the game. I'd still really like one or two elements or characters from the game to come back and get incorporated with the larger Country cast. Hoofer or Orco could definitely hang with the others!

That interview would've steamed me too. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't have regular internet access until the late 2000s - would've driven myself insane. I also still think about how Hoofer's just too cool for one game. Love to see him and some of the other buddies again, even if it's just a picture on a wall or something. I'll take what I can get!

I had this game as a kid and loved it. I was bad at it but I loved it nonetheless. I'm approaching my mid-twenties now and I had ZERO idea that this game had a secret 4th crest you could get. My mind is kinda blown

Wow, Toronto history, Canada wonderland, Donkey kong this video got everything, also side note good question on four kids flashback, I actually had no idea that Darren was from Canada.

DK Jungle Beat was my first DK game ever... and man, with the Bongo Controller, it was so AWESOME! I sometimes wish there was a sequel, but all I got next was Donkey Konga 2.

I recently found this game and DK bongos at a retro game store and it is an absolute blast! Great video, I love the stories and passion you have for this game.

I think the bongos not being detected may be from usage. If you're hitting them hard I can imagine it weakens the sensors over time. I learned you can get away with pressing gently but applying enough pressure. Not as fun but it is quiet! The line on top of each bongo represents the divide between TWO buttons. The bongos feature four inputs on top. Plug it in while playing Smash Bros. Melee for example!

I like how the theme of your intro is Earthworm Jim's Andy Asteroids victory theme. Seeing 8:49 reminded me of the music of Ice Warren. 18:48 I agree that the final boss isn't tough at all; all the other bosses put up better fights. 24:30 I forgot about that and I played Donkey Kong Country Returns but not Tropical Freeze. I only played the Wii version of Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.

What's next for DK Month considering you talked about Returns and Tropical Freeze

As much as I dislike what Nintendo did with DK after Rare's sale, this one was the bright spot for me. Like you said, nothing makes much sense and there's not much effort to make it all fit together, but it's just a whole lot of fun. And the only version I played was the Wii one, so I had no idea about the differences. I'd like to try the original out someday.

I'll admit, I did play the Wii version, which definitely detracted from the authentic experience. However, I will still say that it's lackluster comapred to the Country series. It lacked a ton of the things I liked like animal buddies, partners, and the Kong cast. It felt too short and the platforming wasn't very solid. The music wasn't that great for the most part.

Never had this game. But still have Donkey Konga 1 and 2 and 4 drum sets! (Should literally dust them off and play again someday!)

I didn't think there were so many difference between the Game Cube and the Wii version of this game.

That might've been the first game my highschool sweetheart and I bought together. We've been together for 21 years now and are married. Brings back memories. Also remember when Bernie Mac passed. I just started watching old episodes of the Bernie Mac Show on Amazon Prime Video.

Also I like to point out that I played this game on the wii that supported motion control. It was fun

I didn't like the GameCube version. The bongos were annoying. However, I found a sealed copy of the Wii version in Washington D.C. recently. Much better. Still have Wii motion controls to deal with, but it's better than the bongos. I also got sealed copies of Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Wario Land: Shake It! I got all 3 sealed games for $90. Hard to pass that up.

My childhood love game

This was a really fun video to watch! I remember playing the demo version of Jungle Beat, it was fun to play but would have been better with the congas. I wish I picked it up back in the day. Also just want to comment, DK's animations look awesome! He's so expressive with movement and face.

I really hope this isn't the end of the Kong-a-thon! You still need to talk about DK64 and the Retro Studios games! Oh, and to answer the question of blaming the "T" rating of Donkey Konga on Good Charlotte, you can always blame Good Charlotte! 🤣
