I love how the rocket stage contains this big rocket but you just fly out on a barrel anyway

The rocket level going up into space is so beautiful. Also the lore…? With banana being used to be the source of power for the baddies, these aren’t any ordinary bananas. Love the chicken boss, felt like this would be the one they would get stuck on for a while, is a tricky one.

The aurora looks so beautiful in the first stage. I miss seeing it every winter…

9:46 normally you need to hit him three times in this phase, but if you look closely, when Jon is pulled up with him, he actually hits him a second time!

Wow so Jon actually managed to hit Cluck twice on that first hit when he comes out of the machine. I have literally never seen that happen before. He accidentally commited speed strats. Also the tell with the dash is that the robotic leg raises itself lower than normal when he was about to dash. Hence why Emile couldnt get out from underneath the machine fast enough.

I played this game for years, and I never picked up on the dash tell. Now that you mention it, the preceding step is faster and doesn't have the up-up-down pattern that the slow steps have.

Yeah I never figured out a lot of his pattern until I tried the time trial and mirror modes. It was a lot trickier than I first expected.

@@GBDupree When I played this boss for the first time, I'd just finished collecting all of the puzzle pieces in the music level so I guess I was just sorta getting into some of the rhyme and rhythm of it all.

Man, this let's play Is almost over. Feels like it started yesterday...

Feather Fiend is a pretty mean fight. The sidestep phase is really just patterns, but having no tell to those patterns means it's gonna just score cheap hits on you with the sudden speed-up, and will keep doing so until you have recognised and memorised that pattern. When I first played... I did not pick up on that for a good while. Then the stomping part is not a fixed pattern, but it actually does have a tell. If it spins before slamming down, it will land with the feet spread apart, so you can avoid damage by just ducking and then attack when the bottom flips, with no need to pass under the feet in that case, luckily. I thought this fight was longer somehow, but that's probably just because I had so much trouble.

This boss is so annoying, but it has THE. BEST. MUSIC. EVER!

I like the final boss theme a bit more

I like xylophones song more however Cordian is my favorite Tiki I love his desigh so much

I love this boss, the way he moves reminds me of the penguin from Wallace and Gromit

People give far too much flak to the Tiki's solely because they aren't the Kremlings. But really, as antagonists they weren't all that bad. They actually had a motive for wanting to steal DK's Banana horde (Them needing Bananas to make more of themselves), Unlike K.Rool who steals for no reason at all (Of course you may say, "well K.rool just likes bananas." But in various of official modern games, K.rool states he hates bananas.) Their design fits the setting of the Donkey Kong series well, and they certainly have a bit more variety design wise too thanks to the boss main members of the tribe and the bosses they control.

I always found that rocket launch level so confusing, you go to all that trouble to power the rocket and then it immediately just opens and it's just a rocket barrel, and you don't even go that far up. I think there's concept art of there being a level on the moon, so maybe the plans for it got drastically scaled back.

3:05 Diddy: Hey, DK! Look at that? Donkey: Hmm, what are they making? (sees goops turn wood into Tiki) Donkey: Huh? Diddy: What the?! (sees giant robot) Are they using our bananas to make more Tikis? Cordian: You are correct, my furry little friend. However, now that you have seen everything, I afraid that you must be silenced. (to Colonel Pluck) These are the intruders that have been trying to shut us down. Turn 'em into toe jam! Colonel Pluck: Buwk, buwk... BA-KAW!!! Donkey: Time to pluck this chicken! Diddy: You said it! Donkey Kong: I am going after the leader who made the Tiki and stealing are bananas. Let go, Diddy. Diddy Kong: Right, Donkey Kong, no one shouldn't steal the bananas we collected.

There is indeed a tell for when the boss is going to do his dash attack. If you look closely, the side step that they do just before dashing is a little bit smaller than a usual side step. So yeah, it's a pretty crappy tell, but a tell, nonetheless.

Unfortunately for this boss, that rush attack had zero tell from what I know. I have been trying to understand what determines it for years, and while I've narrowed down the timing for when he usually activates it, I have never, in all my years noticed something he does that indicates he is about to run.

@@alvaroperez2349 I will admit it is still very bizarre that they do that just for this game. Honestly, anybody taking DK's bananas is really just doing it to oppose him or get his attention.

Boss names again. The boss is named Colonel Pluck and his robot is called the Stompybot 3000. The tiki is named Cordian because he’s an accordion. Also, I have to say that Pluck’s theme is the best boss music in the entire game.

All right, can't wait for the last world

“You’ve been eating brains this whole time!” So THAT’S why I don’t like how they taste.

The Rocket stage is always a fun little bonus. It doesn't even count as a stage per se, which is why its called 7-R and doesn't have any secrets. But it adds a little bit more than it being just a cutscene on the map, plus the fun music and a different control style for the Rocket Barrel to set it apart. And it has a reference to Metroid Prime 2 in the background of the launch area. Its just there for fun and that adds a lot of charm to this game!

I love the boss. A true Eggman

I kinda like this game's little overworld gimmicks, like the 3 buttons that activate the rocket ship level, or the Cliffs map collapsing halfway through forcing you onto a different path. I would've liked to see more things like that in Tropical Freeze

Jon: I love you but I gotta beat up this accordion candle

It's pretty short, but the rocket stage carrying you up to the Tiki production factory and the top of the island is pretty cool... also, it's quite funny you spend all that time looking for buttons to power the rocket only for a regular rocket barrel to burst through it and be sufficient enough to take DK to the stars. The chicken boss was an interesting fellow, it's minor but I do appreciate the building up of story at this point in the game, the Tikis stole the bananas with an actual purpose in mind, and here we get to see it. Plus, this world's been filled with chicken robots, hatched from "eggs" dropped down by this science-y chicken fellow who also operates the factory... well, technically the accordion runs it presumably, but all the same I thought it was neat how well put together everything in this world was.

I say this boss is like most of World 7 in Super Mario Bros.3 : First timers moment. Just gotta memorize the pattern. 5:30 I mean. You did tell it to hurry up.

Can i just say i love the build-up to volcano? entire game you see it and now you rise to great heights to reach it 7-R despite being short is a cool stage it makes sense with the map why you go higher again...music is cool and it's just..fun 7-B is one of my favorite bosses...great music...the boss can be confusing but it's still fun... time for what might be my 2nd favorite world

Nothing quite like ending the best world with a tedious boss fight. At least it’s where the bananas are being used. Next time, TRG is so screwed.

John to answer the question their is a tell for when the boss is about to dash it’s when he’s moving look for when he drags his leg that’s when he’s about to dash also fun little fact I noticed when you jumped on him the first time in the second phase where he flies and drops chickens you hit him twice while he was recovering from the first hit

Now this I say this is one boss to remember

I really like rocket barrel music in this stage. And the Factory Boss music is pretty funky, too. It kind of reminds me a little bit of Crash Bandicoot.

A vertical rocket barrel stage?! Tropical Freeze didn’t even have this.

In this bossfight, we fight one of the most nefarious instrumental abominations of them all: the accordion. Don't get me wrong, I like Weird Al too, but raw accordion makes me psychopathic.

Weird Al revelations and some "unsure comments about unkempt bushes" are in this episode. Be prepared to laugh. And also to cheer as I think the final boss is at hand.

Now things are about to get hot...SO much hotter... Hope you brought your sunscreen TRG, 'cause you're gonna *BURN!*

"I thought it was in the background!" See what happens when you assume? "This is so hard!" > Literally was not paying attention to the easiest pattern imaginable.

I think this was the boss that gave me the most trouble when I first played it

They had a surprisingly easy time with general clucks. I thought he was the harder boss between him and the last boss, but I suppose difficulty depends on the person.

@@loftwingheropon2743 I’d say that assumption that it’s more tedious than hard is right, but that’s not saying much because it is very, very tedious. I do remember the walking feeling pretty precise to go underneath, you can see chugga struggling a lot with that. It’s probably easier as Diddy because of his smaller hurtbox.

I honestly don’t think the chicken mech has any actual “pattern”. I think you just got to be super defensive with whatever it’s about to throw out and attack as soon as you get the chance.

Good ol Colonel Pluck (or is it Cluck?) BEST. BOSS. IN. THE. GAME. One of the best in the series imo

AM I THE ONLY PERSON WHO SERIOUSLY HEARD THE RING SOUND GET PRESSED THEN CHUGGA WENT TO ANSEWR THE DOOR AND THEY STOPPED GAMPEAY WHEN FOOD CAME

Tip: You can actually stand underneath him when he tries to stomp you. Just as long as his legs are far apart

why is it always the bird bosses that are the sheer cliffs of difficulty spikes in these games? This and the owl in Tropical Freeze are where I get stuck (yes, even though it is literally world 2 in TF)

This boss was a bit confusing and I died a bit more than I hoped. I also heard the doorbell after you beat the boss. It was a bit loud. I will explain a good set idea to beat the boss if you haven't yet other viewers For the boss, The boss will always do at least two before rushing about a quarter. If the boss twirls during the jump attack, get under him and crouch. The panel does damage when he lands, so duck under it (I died to it twice). Other than that, He may open the legs after 3 jumps from one side of the map to the other. For the cockpit, He may drop an exploding chicken. If you like to troll, throw that exploding chicken at him (you can pick them up).

Whenever I see this boss... it's like basically Dr eggman if he was actually competent about his inventions in a given scenario. And he's a chicken xD

I'll go ahead and say it. The bosses in this game are terribly inconsistent. The boss with the totem of crabs takes ages for what is basically 3 larger normal enemies, this episode's boss didn't have good tells for his attacks you just had to get hit and remember that he dashes, or the boss of the last world where it was inconsistent on when the horn hurts you and doesn't hurt you.

It's funny that you have to do a rocket level in order to unlock the boss. 1:02 that was total bs but i mean you have to expect bs from this game 😂 3:16 According to the lore is actually stated that bananas had magical powers that's why everyone wants them. 3:59 And i present you THE WORST BOSS OF THE GAME! But at least the music is so gooood 5:02 that happens a lot and trust me it got annoying after a while for me 6:13 I guess it is but this boss just does whatever he wants 90% of the time. 10:10 You guys did it really quickly to me it took at least half an hour my first time and thats by knowing how the fight goes. 10:44 - 11:06 what was that Jon 😂😂😂😂😂 Next time HOOOOOOOO BOY things are heating up

They only meet up a couple times a year to record. This was back in October/November 2022. Aside from the long stretch of time they were only able to record remotely due to pandemic travel restrictions, everything is recorded well in advance so they have more than enough content to stretch out between recording trips (usually to Emile's house, but the next one is gonna be at Jon's since they're gonna be hosting Thrown Controllers at a convention in Calgary in a couple weeks).
