loved the ending.
"... oh we're being asked to leave, the baby is going to be baptized..." ?

the ending killed me lmfao
Y'know, I really appreciate "Smart History." Not only am I getting a great ancillary education in art, but you're also helping me expand my vocabulary. "Salacious" is my new word, meaning "lustful," "pornographic" or "crude." "Incipient" was another word I learned from another of your videos. I have no reason to stop thanking you yet.

Both very useful words!
It was actually Salome’s mother, Herodias, who wanted John the Baptist killed. In the New Testament, Herod’s stepdaughter is unnamed; we learn that she was called “Salome” from an account by ancient historian Josephus.
That baby is probably 10 today ❤️
Thank you, Derek Lan and Zoe Fuller. What a beautiful and fitting moment caught at the end. It did much to ease the pain of what happened to my beloved Johnny B. And I love that the baptismal was showcased at the start of the video and put to good use at the end. It's almost like Abai wanted to send the message, "This is what it was all for."
Wonderful explanation. Thanks.
great commentary of the piece
Cinema verite!
Can you please show me in print the name of the discoverer of linear perspective? I can't quite catch it in the video. Thanks!
