I was a regular at Wallace's bar in Orange, New Jersey where Don Lambert played endlessly from 1947 until his death in 1962. He could not read a note of music but could play any song in any key. He could not reach a tenth with his left hand but managed to develop the best left hand in the business. We are fortunate to be able to hear whathe could do so magnificently.

I'm here after listening Earl Hines and Art Tatum's versions, three of the greatest stride pianist including Donald Lambert... Donald has a special and unique way to play the piano is like he's touching his own soul

Merveilleux pianiste, sonorité pleine, inventivité et un des plus grands spécialistes de stride ! Quel dommage qu'il n'aie pas bénéficié de meilleures conditions d'enregistrement !!!!

Johnny Guarnieri was another pianist with small hands who emulated Lambert.

Yes, it really is one guy playing! No dubbing either. Like Bill Evans, a true pianists' pianist. Isn't it strange how the world ignores genius? In the UK, I can count on ONE hand the people I've met who have actually heard of Art Tatum. I have never met anyone who has even heard of Donald Lambert , let alone heard him play.

If you're trying to emulate Lambert, I hope your hands are way bigger than my tiny ones! Do you know my favorite version of 'Tea for Two? Search for Tea for Two Art Tatum If you would like to see a score of a different, but still incredible performance see: Art Tatum - Tea for Two (Audio+Sheet Music) Both are played by Art Tatum, the greatest jazz pianist ever! Enjoy!
