Фильм және анимация

Musician Don Walker (Cold Chisel) on the importance of saving audio tapes, and how he still keeps the handwritten notes where he first captured the ideas for many songs.
Mr Walker recently visited the NFSA office in Sydney, to record an in-depth interview for our Oral History program.

"People out there like something I and my mates did". Wrong Don. LOTS of people out here LOVE many things you and your mates did. It didn't get any better than growing up with Cold Chisel.

I need to post it somewhere.... I lived in Adelaide when Chisel were establishing themselves....they were a force of nature.....audiences would stand spellbound at the intensity and energy coming from the stage, not to mention the lyrical genius of Don Walker projecting stories through Jimmie's incredible voice. All to a backdrop of tight solid rhythms and searing lead breaks. No-one and I mean no-one sounded as good as Mossy, he influenced so many of us.....There were or are numerous desktapes flying around from this their golden era....the albums were really the topping on the cake....the tapes capture the essence of their greatness, at the absolute peak of their powers. I saw Chisel in Hyde Park 2 years ago, almost brought to tears as my youth returned for two hours when my beloved compadres, miles from home sang along to their anthems....They have aged, yet still their spirit lingers on. I digress......would love to get my hands on more tapes from 74 to 79.....email me and I'll see what I can do......

I wonder about the Universal Music Studios fire. And how much this has affected artists the world over.

He's right....digital is not the best way to preserve audio. Its a digitized and compressed sound compared to the fuller resolution of sound produced in non-digital. Listen to an LP on a good stereo with the full range compared to a CD and even worse an mp3...tinny compressed sound, not even a contest.
