Never forget, there was only one man able to stop the relentless rampage of the Black Swordsman, and that was Godo. Godo is the man who defeated the Black Swordsman with nothing but wisdom.

Don't live your life chasing after hatred. Because in the end it'll only cause you even more pain. I remember that's what I interpret what Godo meant when he was laying in his bed speaking to Guts.

I love how even though Godo's final lesson to Guts is "Don't turn out like me," he still got a chance at having a family/loved ones in the years before he died. The best time to start is yesterday, but life is also not a race and as long as you live its never too late to find happiness

I often think about Godo and his conversations with Guts, definitely one of my favorite characters in the manga. Despite his limited appearance in the story, the parts with him are incredibly impactful.

Thank you! Cracks in the blade, followed by feeble flame, are two of my all time favorite chapters of berserk. When I hit rock bottom, I thought of those two chapters often as I’ve struggled onward. Going there showed me my cracks, and my damage. In my misery, A small voice in my head kept telling me there was still some good steel that could be salvaged. I could be remade. So I cast myself in the fire and I’m trying to forge someone better everyday. I realized (and I hope and pray) I still have time. Some of the people I love are still in my life (some, faintly) after coming to grips with that, I drew my line in the sand. I would fight for someone, something. Not lose myself in my misery and my hatred again.

Despite the objectively short page-time, Godo is one of the most influential characters in all of Berserk, the father figure that Guts needed. Cracks in the Blade remain to this day my favourite chapter.

Godo also pointed out something very important. When Guts wondered around for 2 years to hunt apostles he was just wasting his time. The answer to destroy Griffith and the godhand wasn't easy to come by just by doing random stuff. He shouldn't have complained about Casca being gone when he refused to be near her. Despite her mental state.

i love some somber moments in berserk like the beach episode when Guts realizes that he has companions again, or, the one uhh was it Vol 32 when he and Zodd part ways and Guts takes off in the boat seeing Griffith in the distance , also lets not forget Spring Flowers of Distant Days, Bonfire of Dreams ehhh too many to mention... the whole damn series are the best thing i discovered

there was also a similar dynamic between puck and vargas early on pushing him to keep struggling to live and survive instead of having his struggle be focused on the past and vengence... varags himself is a parrallel of the black swordsman guts in his hatred an obssession..a powerless version guts not even able to fight for himself and go berserk like guts and who has to suffer the humiliation of asking others to avenge him ... his situation was so hopless even the biggest struggler guts told him that a rat should live like a rat .. at least for guts when everything failed him he always has his sword which is the metaphor for his stength and fighting prowess and pride ...its funny that most readers who see themselves in guts are in reality closer to vargas than anything else .. you can see miuras messages from the early chapters

Great video again Ryan, you do such a great job on these videos expressing your feelings for the characters, I just couldn’t express myself like this. But the 13th deluxe edition will be released in the next few months so I’ll start another reread & time it correctly so I get to vol 39 right as it’s released. This will be my 4th reread, I could just reread Berserk for all eternity.

I have thought about the Morda subject. Being dishonest is keeping the truth only by yourself while leaving the rest without it giving them a lie. Being dishonest is evil. More over honesty reflects reality much more than dishonesty. Even if honest people can be wrong and therefore not adjust to reality they adjust more to reality than dishonest people. At least honest wrong people adjust themselves to the reality inside their thoughts and imagination. Dishonest people don't even do that. Having in mind that reality always wins fiction (the truth always ends up being discovered) it is clear that we must be honest and don't lie. So I give you a month to go alone. If you don't want or you can't or you already have someone or you want to focus on other things or whatever I will send her the comment anyways in a month counting from now. Then, if you want, go for her after four months (January). I think it's much better than going you all alone (women are designed by million years of evolution and millions and millions of evil men who always hurted them to instinctively reject any man approaching them. now things are changing and so they are but still...). If you don't want to do nothing no harm done. After the three damn months she will get better, happier and empowered. We live in a strange world ineed nowadays. Transgender, now I have seen a video about transracial, something tells me the future will be transanimal and transcybernetic. Holy @@@ even aliens are schnozing around. Provided none of them take away the freedom of no one they are free to do what they want in my book. They are not evil. They are good. So it would not be so strange this wacky plan of mine would work. If not, good riddance. Plenty fishes in the sea. Not to mention that being alone also has its advantages. Your Godo video was, as always, very emotional. My hat off. At least we know what you lack therefore what you crave, what you need. I wrote an outstanding comment about why we all shoud turn out like Godo. Honest, hard working, never taking the freedom of no one while living on his own, good for both the collective society with his smith work (body) but also good for individuals like himself (having the goal to perfect his skills to the max) like that little girl (thanks to the careness and compassion of his soul) or even Guts (thanks to the wisdom of his mind). Not to mention he will be eternally blessed in both the fifth dimension of our collective consciousness and the fictional consciousness of the fictional characters of the manga because his soul is infused in that tombstone and of course in Guts MFBS !!!!. Sadly the light went off (Summer, everybody with the air conditioner on, not enough energy, power off) and I am unable to rewrite the comment. Well, at least i think its core, its soul has been saved within this one.
