Looks like our pug we lost last year after 16 years of sharing our home and hearts. Unusual for a pug to live that long but she did and had the perfect home. I saw that your pug was having some issues with it's front shoulder/paw. I hope it gets better. Our pug was a rescue we got as it was about to be put down. It was from a horrible puppy mill and was not expected to live. She had just been weaned but had to be gently cared for the first couple of months. How amazing it was to see her grow and become so healthy and happy so soon. Will get another, but not yet.

Cant help but love a pug. Like bulldogs, they dont have to do much to make you smile. I had one and bless his heart, I'm not sure he had more than 4 functioning brain cells but he was cute.

When the puppy first barked i swear i had a cuteness overload!!

Way to go on the Pug rescue. He seems to have gone to a great home and is happy.

Dog Whisperer says that cuz small puppies are always carried up high like they are taller than other dogs, they get more "dominance" and thus creating their "ego trip". and cuz they are small and fragile we hesitate on disciplining them like how we would a big dog. he also says that dog who has dominance over toys,food,other things are near obsessions and must be addressed before it becomes severe like snapping at ones hand when feeding because they become territorial on it. like saying "you are not the boss" but in fact you should be the pack leader if you want your dogs to obey when you command them to. but i still like the video. the pug has the cutest bark hehe

I don't think the rules are absolutes. Some studies show that dogs observe and have a certain degree of understanding regarding how humans behave. So some dogs have an understanding of what is okay and what isn't in our terms so they may behave differently knowing those rules. I also think some dogs don't understand human behaviour as well, so they need to be dealt with in dog terms lest they get confused and behave inappropriately. So simply put, dog behavioural rules may apply to the species, but some individuals may choose to behave otherwise in a human oriented social context. It applies to cats and other animals too. They may be wired one way but they may feel less obliged to stick to species specific behaviours when surrounded by humans. Or at least that's how I explain some of the unique personalities I have known among cats and dogs.

My poodle won't let anyone go near her toys because she had a false pregnancy and she thinks her toy is a baby and she is pregnant right now so I don't think she will let anyone touch her new puppies. Anyone know a way I can teach her to be more gentle?

To be honest there's not alot you can do about it- more often than not, at first a new mother will be extremely protective of her puppies. My family used to breed Norfolk Terriers, & one of the females we had was usually the sweetest, most gentle dog, but whenever we, or any of our other dogs, went near the pups in the first few weeks she'd growl & snarl & we just found it was best to let her get on with it- she had 5 beautiful pups & had absolutely no problems. You could try just sitting with her, stroking her & talking to her quietly, telling her she's a good girl ect, & this will show her you mean no harm & build up trust. It's not usually anything personal when a dog gets protective of it's toys, food ect, just instinct. She'll also start "nesting" before the pups are born, so providing her with somewhere warm, comfy & soft will make her alot more comfortable & relaxed. Hope all goes well! :)

She has the least aggressive growl. It's like she's "politely" saying "Don't touch it." I wuv Pugs!

They are so sweet she never growls of flares her teeth at them!

I think if I remember correctly (I could be wrong), she had an abusive owner before who broke the dog's leg. It never healed correctly.

Oh my gosh! How can people EVER be so CRUEL to an innocent, beautiful little precious creature???? This just blows my mind. Animals trust us so implicitly and completely - give us their love unconditionally. And yet there are jerks out there who take this very trait and use it slowly (sometimes quickly) destroy their spirits and bodies. God bless these people for taking this little sweetheart of a pug into their lives & home!!
