4:54 The wife and I bring a "tent bag" to sleep with us. It's a little tote bag with night time essentials like earplugs, extra phone battery, Kleenex, pee bottle, etc... It's a major pain in the neck after we're comfortably tucked in only to discover we forgot something down in the truck. So yeah, spend the night in the tent before your trip to sort everything out.
Thanks for taking the time, great informative video!!
This felt rambly. Also, the more I hear about RTT setups the happier I am with my ground tent that takes 5 minutes to set up or tear down and I can dry it in my basement when I need to.

I really love my ground tent, I have a cot, a table and chair, a portable toilet, a heater, and plenty of room for my gear. I’m incredibly comfortable and it’s tall enough for me to stand up and walk around. RTT’s are awesome and I think they are very convenient. Quick setup and tear down for moving along the trail. I’ve been spoiled with my ground tent, I like to take the top off my Jeep, and a ground tent it’s also much cheaper than RTTs.

You gotta consider the time it takes to set up every aspect of your sleep system, not just the tent. My pop up ground tent takes 90 seconds to set up, however by the time I’ve inflated my matress, set up my sleeping bag, pillow, lugged my overnight bag to the tent it takes about 15 minutes and it pretty straining on the body. Most rooftop tents include a pre set up matress, you can leave your sleeping bag and pillows inside, etc. I’m not saying an RTT is better, but you gotta realize their are advantages and disadvantages to both sleep systems. Personally, I would rather have a pop up truck bed camper shell as it has almost every advantages of both sleeping systems with less downsides.
I need to get into the habit of airing out my tent. I went out this weekend, and it was a little musty from sitting for a couple of weeks. Awesome video as always.
I did appreciate the procedures you go through. I have not owned a tent and not sure if I will after this
Yup, you about covered it all. Nice job! I think folks really/hopefully benefit from talks like these. Lots of really good points here. 👊🤙
Thanks for the video. I just installed my RTT like three hours ago and was reviewing for a shakedown trip in the driveway when I found your video. Condensation is my biggest concern and your covered it! Thanks.
To avoid a moldy, or "old" smell with some of my gear, I started using dryer sheets of preferred scent while fabric equipments are stored

I think it’s time for somebody to invent a small dehumidifier that goes in these because the tent manufacturers don’t seem to be smart enough to have one built in
I just bought a truck where the previous owner put an over landing kit on it. I didn’t even research for understand this world was out there. Fascinating. Bro, seriously, I’m six to my son is 62 and 19 years old now we want to go fishing, and do some camping style man in your view for guys like us just starting out. I’m thinking about busting out an Amazon special but I need to know the style.
That was very informative. Thanks!
Thanks for the info as always
Great vid! A couple things I’ve learned is bring a bottle up at night. If it’s windy leave the elastic chord in it’s take down position and it will help the tent from flapping around(clam shell style) and buy some cheap levelling blocks at princess auto and use the inclimeter in the car/truck also use a half mattress if your by yourself so you aren’t messing up the mattress! 🤘
I have a Roofnest Overland Gen 1 and store a fitted sheet, flat sheet, flannel blanket, and 3 super fluffy full sized pillows in there. Great video.🤙
Thanks for the insight

Hello Case. I’m interested in installing my first time ever lift kit on my 21 JT Gladiator Willys edition. What are your thoughts and experiences with the MetalCloak suspension and lift kits….? Im going for an overland look but yet my JT is my daily driver. I constantly haul tools for work while, going on weekend overloading adventures.
Can you share some info on putting the alu cab load bars on the rhino rack backbone base plate things on the roof? Im trying to lower my tent.
Thank you for the video. I've been thinking 💭 f buying a RTT, I'll have to watch your other video on the 3 types. Lots of great tips here that I will consider 👍

Hey Casey I bought a OVS clamshell rtt. I notice went I open it, the extension part doesn’t go all the way down. Unless you put weight on it. Is that normal ?
Hi. Have you tried the Presto MY JO coffee maker? Similar to AeroPress but designed for K cups.
Just watched the last video mate what a pleasant surprise to see 12 min ago upload!
I found Dry Z air works really well in my tent, I loaded up a sock and threw it up there in the winter when I wasn’t using it absolutely no condensation or mold. Second winter with it on full time no mould yet.

what do you use to as a water repellent on the out side ??

Hey Casey - One of the questions I have about the iKamper style is if you think the rainfly gets truly tight enough to shed water properly. (Wondered this after your wet night in yours). Sold my soft shell stylel, but have a 6'5" son so...I need something that a truly tall person can sleep in.
Hey good vidéo for information thank’s for that. But another way, I saw you have a glacier Ecoflow ? Are you satisfied with ? I buy one but about 6 month only really one month an alf of using , the LCD of temptur become to give me a wrong indication exmple inside Ihave -15ºC and the LCD indicat me +35ºc 😮 , I’m afraid it’s bit of track (not hard just road track ) with the glacier on for temperature control. Did you test it on track without any problem ? I regret my purchase , I should have an ARB ZERO 40 Ltre 😢 . Thank for you answer and enjoy your trip :-) and your nice country I live in north africa and a lot of problems with the very little represented material her ,so you have to tinker yourself for any part isn’t on the market. And I built a roof tent with the means of the edge, and your video gave me good advice . Again thank’s and enjoy.

You need to purchase a Bush Company AX27 RTP. They’re available at Grizzly Overland in Vancouver, BC. Without question the best RTP for the Pacific NW.
Hi. Just bought a clamshell RTT. Any opinion on which side it opens to (driver or pass side)? Does it matter? Thx
@Casey250
4 ай бұрын
Doesn't matter. I tend to like my tents to be accessible from my passenger side as I put my fridge edge in the rear passenger seat area,, and my recovery gear in my rear driver side area.
I’m a new RTT owner. I just had it open this week to acclimate myself, also to air out that “new tent” smell. Do you zip all the windows and entry doors shut before closing? If not, why not? I zipped everything closed which made it take longer to close. I plan on spending a couple of nights in it at home as suggested. However, we just had a spring snowstorm so that will need to wait. Thanks for putting this video together.

The Top Oak I reviewed in Feb looks like a great bang for your buck tent.
The alucab fabric is thick and heavily coated/sealed so it doesn't breathe at all. You need to keep a vent open for fresh air. If you sleep in it sealed up (in cold weather), you will wake up with effects of elevated CO2 levels. I only run mine in the cold with a diesel heater to bring in fresh air. You could also not run a heater but you really need to keep at least the tiny top vent open and crack a side vent open too. That will, of course, let cold in so prepare for that.

Good video one of your best tutorials. And for the people chipping on you about advertisements, I find it hard to believe they don’t understand sponsorship. I was involved with NASCAR for many years as well other forms of racing as well I relied on sponsorship to help fund my racing, so I wonder if complaining people watch racing and complain about sponsors on vehicles lol. I think you’re doing your advertisements in a very concise and brief way, well done. ✌️ And if the folks complaining are reading this, keep in mind sponsorship is what allows many people the opportunity to entertain you👍

What about All the rooftop tent leaking in the last video while driving the gladiator. That seemed to be excessive leaking to me.

I've always made videos on interesting products I find and how I use them. I try to make videos that help the most people out as long as I like making videos. I really enjoy finding new and interesting gear and these videos really seem to interest a lot of people so I keep making them. I do find my videos go in cycles depending on what availability I have as I work full time. I can't plan trips all the time unfortunately and working on my rigs or getting over to Epic ( which requires 5 hours and ferry) isn't viable all the time. I'd rather keep making videos as I find new gear then make no videos at all. Some great events and trips planning coming up. Unfortunately due to work EJS wasn't one this year.
