Man, that mom really pissed me off. There’s a difference between being realistic and just plain cruel. Laughing and mocking your daughters dreams and ambitions is just gonna ruin her future goals and her self esteem :( she’s setting her up for disaster

Her mom almost caused me to lose it. She's soooo selfish! Her children are not her and have their own dreams and goals. What is it even worth to have a child you are 'pleased with' after you have crushed their self esteem? The mom needs more than just to be called out for all the harm she's done... She needs a wake up call. And the daughter needs all the support and positivity.

I understand your madness, I feel it too. But we should also try stepping into her mother's shoes. It takes a lot of time and a lot of effort in order to even have the slightest chance to debut in Korea. Idol trainees often start their training at a very young age, meaning that one should abandon its educations. If unfortunately, she should fail, she will have nothing left to survive within the harsh economics of Korea.

So im really worried about how that girl lives...it must be depressing for her.

Her voice is not that bad if she takes lessons she'll probably be able to hit high notes, she was just nervous (that's why she hesitated at first why can't her mum understand that it's so upsetting)

Honestly you can hear that she has quite a good voice for singing, but her mom has ruined her confidence. At 19:56 you hear her real vocal tone and its nice. Also you don't pass the first round of Kpop Star if you have no talent. She's still young and her voice is still growing and improving. You can't really know at that age how her voice will be a couple years later. And her lyrics are really nice, with some work they could be super good. Jeongyeon was admiring her lyrics and she has written lyrics for multiple Twice songs, so she knows a little about it. My voice isn't at all what it was when I was in middle school and my song writing has also improved a lot, so if she practises there is no reason why she couldn't make it.

Exactly. I really think she could succeed in entering a trainee program if she got the support from home to pursue her dreams. It's so upsetting that her mom couldn't find a better, nicer, way to show her concern about her daughter getting hurt. I hope going forward they are both able to do better. I'll be rooting for Hyeyeong!

MariaakaAnnie - Cosplay and she was crying as well. It's not easy to sing while crying because of the shortness of breath. Her nervousness+crying would really result to a shaky voice but se has the talent. Just a little more practice.

She was quaking and crying the whole episode, of course she wouldn't sing well. No one would in that scenario...especially with no training! And even if she can't be a singer, she could be a songwriter or a producer. I'm still so mad about her mothers behavior.

I remembered BTS suga, his parents even ripped his lyrics and note papers just to make him stop, they want him to focus on his studies. For this girl, continue pursuing your dreams and always respect your parents.

these cases are actually really sad. the fact that the girl had a dream she wanted to pursue for a pretty young age is amazing. it’s really devastating if people close to you are the first people to shatter your self-esteem. what if she gave up? she would basically be her mom’s puppet. she would only follow her orders and not even try to do anything anymore. i hope she could pursue her dream and to anyone having similar situtations. fighting ~ [i have kind of the same circumstances. when it comes to academics i would always be yelled out for a single mistake by my family. i’m so used to it now lol but that ain’t gonna stop me from my dream so i hope you won’t stop too]

Literally story of my life! No joke. I'm 28 right now and have only been really living MY life for the past 7 years. Pursuing my dream has been hard, but the sadder part is the reality that I didn't even know what my dream was. Even more devastating is the reality that I still don't even know myself very well. I really hope this girl doesn't end up living my life. I hope she finds encouragement and the strength to pursue her dreams despite her mother's constant belittling.

I want to hear her sing prepared, not as shaky. I honestly heard some niceness especially at the end when she just barely adjusted.

Every remark the mother said boiled my blood, especially "It's better if I hurt her than someone else." No, that's not how it works. She won't develop an inferiority complex from other people, she is developing that right now because of Hye Young's mother. And being a singer isn't JUST talent, it's hard work, singing is a skill meant to be honed and practiced and Hye Young's got the passion to better herself in something she loves. Other remarks such as "Look at her, she has no talent at all." and "You have to be pretty like them to be a singer" is just plain wrong. And just because you planned out the lives of her older siblings and it worked doesn't mean it'll work on her too.

Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want.

The girl’s singing may not be brilliant, but her mom is being too much. I’m amazed that after all of that criticism from her mom she was able to continue. From what I saw she would be great songwriter. I would be rooting for her

I can 100% relate to this girl. I have a mom who against my dream. I've been always wanted to be a model since I was on elementary school and that dream never changed until I was on high school. But my mom always told me that being model means you have no future and no stable income. I really wanted take a modelling class when I was on middle school but my mom just harshly said no, I wanted to apply for model competition but my mom just didn't let me go. After graduated high school, she forced me to being a flight attendant and paid for class. Now I'm a flight attendant with a stable income but I just can't forget how hurt my heart bc my mom didn't let me to pursue my dream to be a model

there are many parents like her esp when they don't see any potential. if I were her mom, I would try my best to support her and tell her to have enough grades to have a backup plan when she doesnt want to pursue music anymore

She actually shaded Twice when she said they're beautiful & she's not, meaning beauty is a big factor in becoming a singer probably bigger than talent alone. i don't get it... even when her daughter is CRYING right in front of her, she still laughs! i'm not a mother yet, nor will i have a kid for another 10 years or so.. but if i saw my child (especially a teenager) crying because of something i'm doing, i'd be concerned???? i'd stop and wonder "what am i doing wrong that's causing my child to experience so much pain that they're openly crying in front of me and hundreds of other people"

whether or not the kid has talent, it's a parent's job to support them. I praise the mom for raising three kids alone, but doing that doesn't just mean paying bills. I know it's hard, but if your mom doesn't support you, it'll make everything harder. even being a businesswoman or whatever the mom wants her to be. without having that secure feeling of your parent's supporting you, everything in life becomes more difficult

I've been watching many episodes of this show of this show this week and I just love how Dongyup, Youngja, Chanwoo and Taegyun are so kind and considerate to people.

I see min yoongi and Kim namjoon in her. And I'm rooting so hard for her success. It seems the mother has been this young lady's personal demon for so long and that laugh probably haunts her nightmares.
