    It's funny, I dont have a Leica M mount camera, and I dont care about the Voiglander lens for M Mount... however, I will watch every damn video from you just because I love your work and photographs that much. Another great vid Matt!

    For my M10-R, I have Voigtlander’s 50mm f2 APO-Lanthar and the Ultron II 35mm f2, the Ultron is small and extremely sharp, perfect for the M cameras. Great video Matt.

    I have both the 35mm and 50mm Lanthars but really I'm a 50mm guy. Agree about the focus tab and the steel ring at the front. The 50mm is the usual lens attached to my M's when they go out.

    Bonjour Matt. J'utilise l'APO 50mm (mon préféré) et le 35mm APO avec mon Leica SL2S, aucun problème avec l'encombrement !. Ces 50 et 35mm sont sans doute les meilleurs objectifs en monture M avec ce "rendu moderne".

    Well-done! Liked! I really do like my 50mm APO Lanthar VM. At 35mm, I believe that I will keep using my Zeiss Distagon ZM, for a modern rendering, and my Re-Issue Steel Rim Summilux, for a less-modern rendering.

    The Zeiss c biogon t 35mm is my favorite M-mount lens. I prefer it over Leica glass. I know it's a 2.8 but the small size and weight are what win me over.

    After being very happy with my 50 APO I wanted to like the 35 and tried to. The size is larger than the 50 and therefore exceeds the M/35 experience I’m wanting. With hood it is ridiculous for a 35 f/2 vs a very compact Summicron. I agree with all the points here; good for those that want great image quality and don’t mind the bulk. For me, I sold some more stuff to go for the Cron.

    I shoot with the Zeiss M-mount lenses, which also don't have a focusing tab, but I found tabs that "stick" on using 3M adhesive, which means they won't fall off. It adapts the focusing to match that of Leica lenses with focusing tabs.

    Matt here's the deal, none of the Leica lenses are worth the money Leica charges when it comes to using them on a digital M camera. Yeah, I said it and I'm sure all the Leica purest will come for me shortly for saying it. 🤣 That said, I own this lens along with the 50mm f2 APO-Lanthar and the 90mm f2.8 APO-Skopar. I LOVE these lenses and coupled with the 28mm f2 Ultron Mark II, you can't ask for a better quattro of lenses. My use case may be a bit different from others. I use all of these lenses across three kits, the Leica M10-R, LUMIX S5II, and the Nikon Zf. When it comes to bang for your buck performance nothing Leica offers can beat these lenses. Mind you I walked into the Leica store in LA tested the 50mm f2 Summilux APO vs my Voigtlander and made portraits of the staff and they couldn't tell the difference between the ones produced by the Voigtlander or the Leica. As a matter of fact they thought the rendering of the Voigtlander photos was better than the Leica and that says a LOT. While I understand your ergonomic gripes and I will say that Leica 50mm felt divine to use but I still wouldn't buy it. The economics of the Leica lenses don't work for what I do. I recommend these lenses to everyone who will lenses and I always suggest they buy them from KEH, MPB, or on eBay. I spent least than $3K for all four lenses and that was a bargain when I would have spent $8K for just one Summilux. Voigtlander APO and Ultron lenses all day, everyday, and twice on Sunday. 🤣🤣🤣

    I don't think the Summicron or even a Summilux is the benchmark here, the APO plays in a separate league along with Leica's APO lenses. For 50mm, the APO-Lanthar easily beats my Summilux Asph.

  • @tomschmitt

    @tomschmitt

    I second that. In terms of sharpness, the 35 APO runs circles around every Non-APO Leica lens imcl. the 35 Summicron of the corresponding focal lengths, and so does the 50 APO. I had the Leica 35 and 50 APOS on loan , and they are basically indistinguishable optically. What you pay for (8 fold) with Leica is the ‘click’ when leaving the rangefinder coupled distance, the smaller size and the much better value retention. In terms of the images, you will see no difference at all.
