Don’t Shave Your Head After Hair Transplant!

I wanted to talk about the topic of why you should not shave your head after a hair transplant (first). For many men who are suffering from hair loss, they tend to shave off their hair since the shaved look is more attractive than the visibly balding look. A study was done that showed guys with shaved heads are seen as 13% stronger, taller and having greater leadership potential than guys with a full head or thinning hair. Something about a shaved head portrays a symbol of aggression and toughness as seen in Hollywood’s leading action stars - Bruce Willis, Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, Jason Statham, and many more.

Welcome to my KZread channel Hairliciously. In this channel, I will be taking you on a journey of my FUE hair transplant progress. Towards the end of November 2016, I had a 1700 FUE hair transplant done in South Korea to lower my hairline and to fill in my receding temples. The FUE hair transplant procedure took me about 7-8 hours to complete and cost me approximately $5000 USD.
I will be doing daily updates on my hair transplant progress, so feel free to subscribe and ask any questions you have. Thanks for visiting!

Products I am using to supplement my FUE hair transplant:
1. Finasteride 1mg/day (generic brand for Propecia/Proscar) - Finasteride is approved by the FDA for male pattern baldness and is effective in slowing hair loss for men. - STOPPED AS OF 4/10/2017
2. Biotin 10,000mcg/day - Biotin is effective in thickening hair, nails, and beautifying the skin. I've noticed thicker and stronger hair after using Biotin for the past few months.
3. Vitamin D 3,000IU/day - Vitamin D helps maintain a healthy body
4. Minoxidil (Rogaine) - Minoxidil slows hair loss progression and promotes hair regrowth. I've noticed that using Minoxidil helped me grow my transplanted hairs a lot more quicker.
5. Pumpkin Seed Oil 1000 mg
6. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

    Hi, youre right about the density. I did in fact shaved my head to a number #1 4 months after my FUE and although it looks fine at that cut and not noticeable, when my hair grows in, it is noticeable to me although I think most people wont really notice. That in between regrowth stage shows the inconsistent density until you can grow it out longer again to disguise it. So for me, when its low or long, it disguise the inconsistent density fine, but not during the regrowth period when its noticeable at least to the recipient but not to 99% of people who look at you. Good video. Very informative for people going through this stage of a FUE postop period.

    Shaved or buzzed FUE is OK for me scarring wise but texture of recipient and hairline geometry issues arise. Texture problem is stalkyness courtesy of mini-micrograft of late 80s and early 90s. If I grow it out and bleach from the one inch mark it combs back and looks grand but the crown thinness gets on my nerves. So if I buzz it, the crown is fine, but then the other issues! catch 22

    Thanks for the videos! Just wanted to make a suggestion to your hair routine. You should add back in the finasteride treatment. I also had a hair transplant and stopped taking finasteride at about your age because i had sufficient hair density and I didn't want to be inconvenienced by taking a pill everyday. Fast forward to now, at the age of 50 my hair has thinned out tremendously. It happens so slowly, it isn't noticeable until it's too late. If I could go back in time, I would have kept with the finasteride. If it's the side effects you're worried about, then maybe consider the topical version. Just a suggestion.

    The donor area heals pretty well since there is immense blood supply in the back of at the scalp. I wouldn't recommend derma rolling back there since it heals nicely naturally.

    you can always get SMP to cover up the FUT scar. If you're talking about the FUT 10 years back, we have FUE which minimizes the appearance of a scar.

    You could completely shave your head like bin diesel and do SMP to give an illusion that u have more hair on top. U could do the SMP on the donor FUE scars to kinda hide the scars too

  • @hairliciously

    @hairliciously

    7 жыл бұрын

    True, i think it works better to hide scars in the donor zone. As for my case, I have more hair and SMP is usually reserved for those who have had moderate to severe hairloss and even with a hair transplant, it wouldn't look natural or dense, so they opt for SMP. In my case, I still have a lot of hair so a hair transplant to add density would be a better option.

    There's a difference between follicles and hairs. Each follicle has, on average, two hairs. The average HAIR density is 120-140 hairs. The average FOLLICLE/GRAFT density is 60-70. A properly executed transplant should come very close to the density of the hair surrounding the recipient area and you shouldn't be able to notice a difference (unless of course you're a Norwood V or above and there's not enough donor supply to achieve that).

  • @hairliciously

    @hairliciously

    Жыл бұрын

    Not true. Doctors will not achieve the same native density as this will simply deplete your limited donor area. Achieving 50-60% of the native density is more than enough to create an illusion of full head of hair for most.

  • @salvadorruiz684

    @salvadorruiz684

    @@hairliciously It depends on many factors. What I'm saying is there's a difference between follicle density and hair density.

  • @gutz1981
    @gutz19817 жыл бұрын

    Its ironic. If you cut your hair short after a first hair transplant, the recipient area will look weak and fake. Where as if you have a second transplant and shave your head, the donor are will show more signs of scaring. Their only seems to be one course of action and that is you have to go with it 100%. Save for more than one surgery, because one seems to not cut it.

    I went to Diep for my FUT and there is no aftercare. I live 10 minutes from his office and wasn't even seen by him when I had the sutures taken out. He doesn't see you until one year after and when asked to see him before that time the office has you send him pictures via email. Also, the scar is really long, he cuts up beyond your ears and I have holes on the side on my head now due to the way he sutured it. I have noticed the same holes on some the his videos with other clients. I now have to have my scar repaired due to his work.

    youtubeuser my transplanted area looks really good it's just the donor area scar. I was concerned that my scalp was too tight for the strip and he said it wasn't. When I went in for a follow up 2 years later he said my scalp was too tight for another procedure. The scar has stretched and I lost hair around it. I think being conservative is the best option but he's not. He's definitely a salesman.
