I work for Preply, I charge 32-35$/h, and I will not devaluate my work .... 5$ seriously ?????

@@user-kw1ld3ky9v hi there consider tutors who just started out , that’s the advice I got , I still maintain that tutors can always increase their prices once they’ve got students- charging $35 dollars with 0 students makes no sense for me in the beginning …

@@keraexcels I understand your point, but starting from 5$ ?? That doesn´t even sound professional to me. A professional teacher can start charging 20$, believe me, you will be taken seriously by students. Otherwise, nobody will trust your lesson quality for that money ... that´s for sure.

@@user-kw1ld3ky9v I understand, I’ve just had a lot of tutors complain that they never get students when they’ve places they starting prices higher than that amount .. I guess it’s different for each person 🤷🏽‍♀️

I'm glad you found it helpful, for instance around this time, I normally don't get that many students due to holiday season differences, so I decreased, my prices at first but now I just l; let it be. Try opening up your time slots more for like a week and see if any changes take place.

Hey Keitumetse , maybe try contact customer care or they might not be taking any tutors at the moment. I rememeber when I applied , there was an influx or applications and i was informed hore due to this responses may be delayed

Hello. I have a question. Since I will be increasing my rate but my student subscribed to a 40 hr lesson package already. She is asking me if she canceled the lesson (for me to change my rate) will she pay for another 40 hr lesson or that 40hr lesson payment will come back to her account

Yes Preply does offer material to use and you can also prepare yourself , Yes, there are other subjects that can be taught. I’d suggest you go onto the Preply site and check it out You can use zoom, googlemeet and such I hope these answers help

I'd say do thorough research before applying to see if it's the best fit for you as there are many other platforms you can teach on like Italkie or Cambly :)

@@Theman-wl2cs you can use your phone for video purpose. It’s somewhat cumbersome to use our phones should we want to work on the preply exercises for both teacher and student. I’d suggest you use your laptop in that regard

@@keraexcels I was "Super Tutor" and "Super Popular" but they were always lying about many different things to me or students and in the end their crazy support banned me for allegedly bypassing their platform. Those were false accusation but they suspended my account and then I got back already 5 active students and informed many of them of their lies and the fact they locked my chat in their website lol ! I have applied for Italki and hopefully they will approve my Teacher profile in a few days (another lie they told me there were only tutors in Preply and there were no teacher or only English could be taught in group for "Super Tutor" but I met another French teacher who told me the contrary...) Preply is just stealing, even the first course is 100% commission fee but on Italki it is always 15% and you don't need to work a long time to get that rate you start with it. + Preply had only good price for English teacher and material for English tutors or teachers and recently for Spanish too but not for French. I hope you'll find something better or be able to work on your own. Good luck.

@@missteree2905 go to a platform where they have the lowest commission rate, not Preply. One day you'll end up like me "Super Teacher", "Super Popular" and falsely accused by some crazy Arab from their support without any proof and banned forever. They are also lying all the time and totally idiot, they are just here to take your time and money and convert you into a slave.

$5!!! These are usually students with money. By charging a higher price, you look more credible. I wouldn't pay a language teacher $5 an hour- what kind of teacher would I be getting then? I'd do this as a side hustle and charge $20 an hour. If it's not my main job, I'd rather charge more and have fewer students.

The only problem with 5 dollars that you wont find students with this rate.

However starting at $3 dollars is also ok but I’d suggest $5 so that you ate last are left with something once commission is taken
