Don't Sell Solutions, Sell Feelings!

Think about the last product purchase you made. Whether it was a car, concert tickets, vacation, piece of clothing, or even that pizza you ordered at the end of a long day. Chances are the purchase decision was just as much (if not more) emotional than logical! Yet, when it comes to sales, most of us still lead with logical, solution, and ROI-centric pitches and then act surprised when customers don't choose us.
Here's an idea...stop selling solutions and start selling feelings! Feelings lead to higher conviction decisions and greater commitment. This video explains why and how.

Great video, David. I love the messaging and the question that you left at the end for the audience.

David, thank you for this great reminder! I work on a team where we have to sell together and one of our team members does not come off across as likable or approachable. This makes the selling more difficult as a team. Can you please give your thoughts on this?

Are you saying that likability/approachability is a requirement to be successful in your team selling environment and you have someone on your team who doesn't possess these necessary skills?

Cerebral Selling I think it’s a part of bing able to reach people. Sometimes respect can get action from others even if they are not liked, but I don’t see that in our member either. When our team member interacts with others, you can just see the shift in energy in others. They are uncomfortable and want to get away.

I agree with your sense that sales isn't always about being liked. If one can be effective in a given environment without being liked, more power to them! But causing customer discomfort and inducing a desire to get away doesn't sound like a recipe for success.
