Don't Put Trevor Noah in a Basket

Ойын-сауық

The host of The Daily Show thinks Hillary Clinton's recent blunder had less to do with "deplorables" than with the basket she placed them in.

Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

Trevor is a good choice. Hes done a fine job on daily show. Everyone keeps comparing him to Jon Stewart, which is natural. But i think hes done a good a job as can be done on the daily show.

It's really hard to compare them. Stewart's an old Jew, who makes me feel very comfortable, and Trevor's a young South African, with a very different perspective. It's also a problem that CC is more mainstream now, so Trevor can't say some of the things John could. I still have high hopes for Trevor though.

And race card? Wut now, so it is perfectly fine when Jon often pull his jewish card cuz it is funny for whites to do so, whereas it is not allowed for trevor cuz he is actually black talking about blacks?

I didn't really see it as getting stumped. I saw it more like Trevor's nonsense had nose dived so hard that Colbert, with all of his wit and charm, couldn't think of any direction to take that. I loved the Daily Show for over a decade and I was actually excited to see Noah take over. He has funny stand up. But I found this interview awkward as hell and most of the DS interviews now to be pretty weak. He always spends way too long complimenting the guest instead of asking interesting questions. Some have been alright, but more misses than hits. The Carson debate was terrible. Ben Carson somehow ended up looking more sensible afterwards.

Just, for the people saying he doesn't have that Je ne sais quoi Jon had, im saying the only difference is time and experience.

Jon also didn't take over for someone whose tenure on the show could be described as epochal. Craig Kilborn was nowhere near as influential as Jon grew to be. Even a relatively low-key Jon Stewart, as he was at first, didn't feel disappointing by comparison. But Stewart grew into such a gargantuan figure that _anyone_ following him was going to seem a little inadequate no matter how brilliant. That's an impression that will fade with time too.
