Johnny change that back treble out for a smaller stronger hook and that will prevent that hooks ability to wrap around the back of the bait.

My folks don’t live too far from that lake. I fished the bank there not long ago with my aunt. I’ll have to take the boat out to it one of these days.

some glide bait theory. how good is a bait really if you get a very high majority of followers instead of committs ? if there was a new 3 inch paddletail out and 19 out of 20 were followers would you still throw that bait or have confidence? i think the big glide baits are just sexy and look so good to us that we just wanna throw them and catch fish on them. i wonder if there's so many follows because something just looks off or unnatural to the fish. cuz you don't hear about any other lure have that many follows and no bites. kinda weird. so ive struggled to catch em on the glide like others, for me a 7 inch. so i thought to downsize to a 5 inch to maybe look a little more natural. as a result earlier this year i had the best 30 minutes of fishing on that 5 inch glide. i have a video of it on my channel. who knows i could have had that same success on the 7 inch just right place right time. but just from that i reach for the 5 over the 7 now.

You could have the same amount of followers on a jig in 12’ of water and never know it.

Interesting. I’ve noticed that too, especially on weekends when there’s a lot of fishing pressure. Not 100% sold on the glide as a staple in my rotation yet, but I want to keep throwing it to see where and when it works best.

You keep saying slate but you mean shale. Slate is a metamorphic form of shale.
