Just ordered their new Aero hitch today. Get the steel (less wear) with about the same weight of the aluminum and less moving parts. Also way cheaper, and still get the scale.
You always have informative videos love your channel
I had the aluminum version and the ball had so much play that it started wearing out the receiver

Johnny, please contact our customer support team at 801.820.7020 if you're having any issues with your hitch!
Crazy to think they keep upping Max towing capacity and have these type hitches, 3" receivers, and they all still hook up with a 1/2" steel hitch pin.

why would you use a 1/2 inch pin if a 5/8 inch pin fits in the hole
@jamesbeaman6337

Good point and to me, this points to the likelihood that the 1/2" pin was originally over designed, possibly for reasons other than strength, such as handling and functionality. Plus for such a small item, the increased cost is negligible.

E R I K 1/2?? You must have a baby hitch with a 1-1/2 inch receiver or a lawn mower. All my class 4 and up use a 5/8 pin, one uses 2 5/8” pins.
Those are some cool hitches
Nice review, looking forward to the dump trailer video
Awesome news JD I've been looking at buying one of those to see what my weight is on my RV and now that they're coming out with weight distribution I might wait and just get it all At 1 time
If you are going to do a direct comparison, I suggest using the same size hitch in each model. The weight limits are identical between same size models however what you communicated in your video may confuse some new to hitches. I bought the steel version in 2.5 in shank size recently. Just my preference.
I love my aluminum Weigh Safe. I bought it after watching your original WS video. I can’t wait to see the weight distributing version, odds are good that I’ll own that too.
You can Anodize the alum hitch to any color you want to, EVEN Ruby red!
Interesting product.
Been wanting one of these. I think I’d go steel so I can flip it around and the black will suit my truck.

Man I wish they would make a gooseneck ball that somehow has that scale on it too. Not much room to work with there without making it a little taller but that would be nice to keep an eye on also.

@@juliushalmos3531 They have a built in mechanical gauge.
Both the aluminum and steel hitches would work for me. I like the aluminum that way I wouldn't have to use my reducer at all. Thanks for sharing JD
I've had my weigh safe hitch on my 1/2 ton for about 3 years and it is awesome. Loading trailers is easy and takes all the guess work out. I know exactly how much my TT tongue weight is without WD. I had one issue with the hitch, the scale glass would fog up after a severe temperature change or after I washed my truck. I submitted a warrant claim with Weigh Safe and they took care of it no problem! I highly recommend this hitch, especially if you load equipment. This hitch will allow you to have your trailer perfectly level and had the perfect amount of tongue weight on your truck.
I’m happy with my weight safe product. They stand behind their product and have always taken care of me when I have any problem.
Nice! Now the ball shouldn’t wear into the aluminum and become loose
weigh safe for the win!
I have been using the Weigh safe aluminum hitch for approx 18 months, they are very nice hitches. The steel looks cool but I live on the coast and the steel hitch (not weigh safe), rusted in the receiver of my previous truck.
You should test the gen y torsion flex. Comes with a scale and torsion technology and you can get a weight distribution head. Works amazing
I don't know what brand it was but a weight-distributing travel trailer hitch I had almost 20 years ago had a solid shank. It was only 2" but that's a lot of steel. Of course, for all I know, that might be the norm for that type of hitch. I never owned another one.
I had the aluminum one and recently "upgraded" to the steel one. I wish I wouldn't have given the aluminum one away because the steel one has rusted like crazy right away.
Do a review of the Rhino adjustable hitch
My Curt adjustable 2.5” is solid steel
I’ve ran one of these hitches for two years on my F-350 dually and it works great except the locking mechanism, I tow trailers every day so I don’t remove my hitch and every season when I switch over my truck from summer to winter tires The locks are froze up, I have the covers on them and they still tend to freeze up every year.
Bulletproof hitches has a solid steel shank. Not that it really matters because the weight rating on these are already so high but it is pretty cool though

I was gonna mention Bullet Proof Hitches. I've been running those for a while. They are solid steel like you mentioned. I believe they go up to 30k or higher and offer massive drop hitch capability
I choose the aluminum because it seems like the steel ones always rust up after a while
My 2008 Chevy 2500 has a 3 inch receiver opening from the factory
the WDH from WS looks like a BEAST ... did you hear what the MSRP is?... is it equalizer money or Propride money? maybe in between.. hopefully is semi-affordable.

When do you plan on doing setup and review of weighsafe wdh. Getting ready for a new camper. I currently have a tundra and am looking at campers between 5-6k dry. Ease of setup with the weighsafe looks awesome and being able to adjust tongue weight easily very appealing.
Nice video. How can I ensure I get a locking pin keyed the same as the lock for the adjustable part?
Do you have any plans of doing a review on their new weight distribution hitch?
Good video and nice looking product. My question is, “ with something so heavy duty, can I use it without sway control if I have a 3/4 ton pickup?”
I wish they made a medium duty one for those of us who run pintles. I have a 650 service truck but sometimes it’s nice to know if I have to drop a trailer on one of the other guys to tow something heavier (yes, somehow I still shuttle equipment while running a shop). That being said, with the exception of a couple supervisors with F250s most of them are 350 dually or 450 so I don’t usually care too much as usually they’re local and it’s pretty flat.
Just for your information weight safe offers you to get a steel or aluminum stinger in a 2"-2.5"-3" with a drop length of 4"-6"-8"-10" Also both the steel and aluminum hitch can be folded back so that they are out of the way.

@@BigTruckBigRV I'll pull a 4 to 5000 pound trailer 6 7 days a week about 65,000 miles a year aluminum housing that you dropped the ball and put the steel pin in. The aluminum housing spread open has the ball shakes back and forth from the load my got so bad i had to throw it away
Steel hitch with a 2.5" shank and 2 5/16" ball is rated at 18,500#, Per weigh safe website.
I order a steel weight safe but just watched a video and the guy was complaining about a lot of play or slop since it has 3 points were it has some play. Do any if you guys experienced these issues?
I am loving my Anderson Sway control Weight control hitch , is there a tongue weight scale for this hitch?
If only I could justify getting a new hitch. I already have a really nice old fashioned adjustable hitch. My problem is my truck loves rear weight and can't get enough and my car hauler is to well balanced.
I liked my aluminum weigh safe until the scale stopped working after the warranty was up. Now it’s just a $300 adjustable hitch.

Weigh Safe thanks for the heads up. I didn’t realize it would still be covered.
I also have several Weigh Safe hitches. They do not stand behind their products or the engineering of them. Sad, because this could be a great product. I contacted them in regard to a 3 year old product, and they told me that they don't support it. WHAT????? Would not recommend to anyone !!!
What's your opinion on the GEN-Y Hitches? I've been looking all different hitches but not quite sure what one I like better yet.

Wait... I’m confused. You have 2k pounds on the hitch, pulling 22k pounds, all through a receiver connected to a truck with a 1/2 (?)inch pin. Seems like that would shear in a heartbeat.
@BigTruckBigRV

Sheer forced are much different than moment forces. It takes significant more force to sheer a steel pin
well it turns out i should have chosen the steel because the new WDH works with the same steel shank!... doh!
