Flagstaff has grown a lot during the past few years. 😵 Although I don’t live there, I have a daughter that lives in Sedona. Since I live in Southern California, I drive to visit her at least 4 times a year. During my visit, we always drive to Flagstaff at least twice a week to go shopping, or go out to eat. I noticed many new stores and shopping centers have been built during the past 8 to 10 years, so it’s still growing. You’re right, there is no Trader Joe’s, but there is a Sprouts Market. Flagstaff is a beautiful place no matter what the season, although I don’t enjoy driving when there’s snow 😁 I do love watching the wild animals though.

A lot of us who live in Sedona go to Flagstaff frequently to shop or just have fun. I love it there.

I get that Flag has grown a lot in the last 20 years but how the hell can a still tiny (compared to Phoenix) high country town provide the kind of jobs that enable a median house price of 800K? That's just nuts. Must be an influx of out ouf staters buying up the housing stock and pushing prices to insane levels.

Many Californians are moving here and paying more than a million dollars cash for their houses.

I lived in Flagstaff over thirty years ago, when it was still pretty affordable. Sorry to hear that home prices and rents have gotten so crazy.

For that $ and cold/snowy winters, I can just stay in the NE.

Richard, But if you live in Flagstaff, you can always easily escape the cold and snow in the dead of winter by just driving two hours to Phoenix where it’s warm during the winters, or you can go much closer to lower elevation towns like Cottonwood, Cornville, or Camp Verde where it’s chilly, but you don’t have the snow.

Flagstaff is just a dirty "railroad town" with some nice national forest surrounding it. I moved here in 1966. Believe me, it's nothing special. NAU, Northern Arizona University is a "dumb downed institution". The cost of living here is quite high, and local wages don't support the real estate market. I sold my last home here ten years ago for $349,000, and it's on the market again now for in excess of $900,000. The infrastructure is 1970's vintage. I'm looking to bail...................
