Don't Mess with Steven Seagal

In today's video, we will be showing you one man that you don't want to mess with. Steven Seagal is well known for his many action roles but even though he is just acting, those moves are real.
I understand that it might be quite tempting to think you can take someone on in a fight, the way many KZreadrs are challenging real-life boxers. In your head, it might look like you can win, but free advice, don't try it.

According to Sylvester Stallone, a fight between the two action stars nearly happened off-camera. In 1997, Stallone invited both Van Damme and actor Steven Seagal to a house party at Stallone’s property in Miami, Florida. At some point, Van Damme expressed irritation that Seagal had previously claimed he could best Van Damme in a fight. Van Damme demanded Seagal follow him outside to settle it, which Stallone claimed Seagal avoided. Later, the two were at a nightclub when Van Damme again confronted Seagal, who slipped out “like Houdini,” according to Stallone.

He has been in court and settled privately. Now there are contracts to sign if you have the balls to go toe to toe. I hold two 3rd degree black belts and have 22 years in executive protection. It is my professional opinion that if Segal and Van Damme were matched in their prime, Van Damme would need his final will signed and notarized. Segal could have dispatched him in short order.

@@TheStratman007 you might have all the qualifications that you claim. I'll give you the benefit of doubt on that. But I think you overestimate Steven Seagal and underestimate Jean Claude Van Damme. Jean Claude Van Damme is not some amateur or novice. He has black belts in, Karate, Kick boxing, Muay Tai and Taekwondo. He also has fought in Karate and Kick Boxing tournaments and has a very impressive record. So good in fact one of his masters has said "if he didn't become a movie star, he would have made a very impressive and hard to beat MMA fighter". Now I'm not saying all of this because I'm some Jean Claude Van Damme fanboy Dr Mark, these are all facts and all true. The fact is I have been a Steven Seagal fan since I was very young and I admired him greatly. I do think hes a good martial artist, so I'm not saying anything against that. But far as being a true martial artist Steven Seagal has proven he isnt that. Hes arrogant, condescending and has absolutely No respect for any other martial artist apart from himself. He has proven that with numerous TV interviews where he is talked crap about Jeff Speakman, Michael Jai White, Jean Claude Van Damme and the great Chuck Norris. Now you should know as being a martial artist like myself. A true martial artist is respectful and humble and doesnt go around trash talking another martial artist or ridiculing their style. Which Steven Seagal has done and these are all facts also. I'm still a fan of Steven Seagal, but nowhere near as much as what I used to be and also in my opinion if Steven Seagal went up again Jean Claude Van Damme and they were both in their prime. Its Steven who would need to get his affairs in order as Jean Claude Van Damme would give him an arse kicking.

@@scottthorpe1557 I'm badly injured and nearing 70 now. I began my studies in 1967. I've never had to step up to the plate for any of my clients. It is not that I underestimated Mr. Van Damme, but I have seen. Sensei Seagal. He is arrogant and thinks very highly of himself. All humility and decorum aside, he was one of the top martial artists of his day. Chuck Norris visited our Navy base in Dam Neck, Virginia circa 1986 (+/-). Chuck is also a great MA. My point of contention is that regardless of character and temperament, I strive to give credit to the art and those superlative performers. I was nowhere near a top performer. I was above average, but nothing to scream about.

In watching Segal and the way he moves. He's a man that understands body physics unlike most fighters. Arm, wrists and shoulders are designed to bend in specific ways. Always using a man's limitations and desire to avoid pain, against them. The men that assist Segal in these instructional videos, are of course to some degree. Allowing themselves to step into compromising situations as most untrained attackers would. I tend to believe that if Segal ever were to fight a trained MMA fighter with purpose. His opponent is going to end up injured. I don't happen to believe that Steven Segal is a evil person. I don't believe we wishes harm on anyone that isn't intent on harm.

I've been a fan of Seagal since I was very young he was one of my heroes and someone I aspired to be. I had great respect for him as a man and a martial artist. Right up until those interviews where he talked trash about Jeff Speakman, Michael Jai White, Jean Claude Van Damme and even the great Chuck Norris. These men are all great martial artists and to talk trash about them is down right disrespectful and is something we true martial artist don't do. A true martial artist does not talk trash about another martial artist, a true martial artist has respect for anyone else who is a martial artist and the discipline they have. Which Steven Seagal has proven time and time again he has no respect at all for anyone but himself. As he is arrogrant and self centred and he thinks he's better than anyone else. I still think he is a talented martial artist and I'm still a fan of his. But no where as near as much as in the past. I respect his abilities as a martial artist, but i don't respect him as a man or a true martial artist and he certainly isn't as great as he thinks he is.

Aikido? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 no disrespect, a good discipline to have. But in a K1 fight, Segal would get his ass kicked, even if 20 years old. I started in karate at 10. Respect is required. 100%. For competition. I also agree that if he went up again Steven Seagal, Seagal would get his arse kicked as Jackie Chan is a really talented martial artist. You'll never hear Jackie Chan disrespect another martial artist because he's a true martial artist and true martial artist don't disrespect other martial artists.

I agree. I am not a martial artist I was specialised ordinary Mall Cop and Mobile Security (Mall Cop in a car at night chencking doors and locks on premises.) Because I was a fighter, I like to play in dojos, so a few years ago after getting my licence, I wanted to refresh my full contact skills. I did Aikoido Wednesday nights, BJJ Thursday, Muay Thai Friday and Tuesdays worked Saturday Nights. I am here today because, I read all that crap abour Steven shitting his pants when choked out by Gene LaBelle? who I only learned about today. I wacth Steven's Movies, Michael Jai White and Chuck Norris Movies but not interested in Fights, just Movies. (Although I have seen some Chuck Norris fights because he was an Olympic Champion and World Champion for years). If Steven did shit his pants Ï would think noi less of him"although it never happened to me, I went to Muay Thai where warm upas we would choke each other out (mine best 7 seconds) and can see how it happened. I did see a dozen guys from Katae Magazine wanting a shot at the toitle with Seagal and figure they are cowards. They are expected to lose, so if they get in a cheap shot like La Belle and embarrass Steven they get notoriety, nothing in this for Steven at all. I realised today that these "nobodys"" could have been set up by greater forces because Segal has a Friend in the Russian President, and many Americans wouldnt like that. Goos luck top them,, Seagal can choose his own friends and that President seem as good as any. Again, I am not a Martial Artist, I foght in my occupations a Prisons Heavy and Private Security ONLY, never street fights, I was well known in town and was always at dojos having fun and word got around. I hope we can put these horrible deformation of Stevens character to sleep now. I am willing to discuss it here with anyone, including Gene

@Q Products You should do some research on choreography and how it is applied to martial arts in films! Aspects of Tai Chi are present, but any fight scene has to be believable. All actors require direction, that is why there is a Director. Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris were directed, James Coburn and yes, Mr Segal were directed. Choreography has played a massive part in the fight scenes these actors were involved in. You see its effects in the way Steven Segal moves around when in combat with his students. And the filming, as ever, is done by shooting the participants from angles that make it all look good to the observers eyes!

One would think that after decades of Seagal being a “professional“ martial arts expert, there would be at least ONE video of him having a REAL fight. But all we have are videos of willing students in fake fights, and Seagal’s movies of him acting like he’s a martial arts expert. Is it too much to ask for just ONE video of a REAL fight with Steven Seagal? That’s why he’s never been truly recognized as a martial arts exponent. In that last movie with Mike Tyson, a real fight would have left Steven Seagal defeated on the floor for sure. His disingenuous image has always left him tarnished in the eyes of Hollywood.

I never fought professionally as I had nothing to prove. In 1975, I left a knife-wielding thug unconscious. I have a scar on the fleshy side of my left hand to this day. I performed a round block and caught the tip of the blade. I stepped in rather than back. I studied MA because I was not in the mindset of being a continual victim in a Noo Yawrk government indoctrination center. The only time I prove myself is if there is no way out. I carry no machismo, just confidence.

Oh plenty of folks, especially fellow actors, have lots bad to say about him. He's an arrogant narcissist, a bully, a total misogynist and womanizer and just an all around douche. I will not dispute the fact he's a good martial artist though, he absolutely knows how yo hurt people if need be. Even if Aikido is not a goof combat martial art and not all that effective, lol. He practices a lot more than Aikido, contrary to the belief that he only knows Aikido and it's an ineffective martial art. I've seen him train people and dude knows how to inflict serious pain easily and he understands the physics and science of force and momentum and has some pretty neat tricks, that he does not ever use in movies. So anyone judging him on his martial arts talent from movies and lame Russin Aikido demonstrations like the one everyone laughs at, have no idea what the man is really capable of. He can lay a hurt on ya, no question. Fat and slow now or not, the moves and techniques I saw him do in a vid. don't require you to move fast or be in good shape, they are more about the timing and "when" to counter an attack. He shows just how important the timing is in how effective the moves are and when timed right=devastating. His philosophy is "don't attack too early, don't wait and attack too late either. Meet the attack somewhere in the middle and you can apply more force and leverage better". Makes perfect logical sense and he proves the difference. He's actually pretty good, yeah.

When he was filming "Under Seige" in Mobile Alabama he did a little seminar in Fairhope (across the bay from Mobile). I was invited, and didn't know who he was. He was a very good instructor, very kind and courteous. He and Aikido catch a lot of useless flack, but that's not me experience or impression. Oh, and my father in law was in the movie. The war room scenes were filmed in the gym in Fairhope. Local paper asked for locals to come down. He was an Korean war vet and retired US Border Patrol so they put him in a Colonel's uniform and sat him at the round table. He was in about three or four flashes on the screen. and the airborne wings on his uniform were his own. He said he wasn't going to play a "leg" colonel. Its an Army thing...

How much 'actual' training did you get in your mama's basement? In real life, even if you win, fights have consequences, often legal ones! Sun Tzu said that the greatest victory in battle is the one in which you don't have to fight at all! Translating that for your apparent low level of intelligence, that means that only a fool fights unnecessarily!
