Don't make this RTV buying mistake!

Most people don't know that Kubota makes two versions of the RTV- a Worksite version and a General Purpose version. While both are quality machines, one is lacking features that you may want in the long run. Zach walks us through which version is which and what to keep in mind when shopping.

I love my 1100c. I have a horse farm so I'm always cleaning stalls. The one thing I wish kubuta would do is but a higher back on the dump bed to stop bedding, debris, etc from going over and down into the mechanics underneath. Looking for another one with an open cab cause i hate dealing with the doors when I'm jumping in and out feeding horses all day. So one for the winter and one for the summer

    Take doors off

@Clevelandsteamer324 I did think about doing that. The only problem is the interior is not made to be open to the weather elements since it is kept outside. The seats are cloth material (which the mice would have a field day ripping apart) and the dash having AC, heat, and radio. I worry about rain shorting things out. I am curious how easy they are to take off. My Jeep doors were a pain in the ass and never did it again lol

Ok - so it makes sense that maybe not everyone needs a hydraulic actuator for the bed and a hydraulic cylinder do cost a lot of money. But Kubota trying to save 5 dollars on a small plastic lid for the glove compartment is just pathetic. It must cost more to REMOVE the lid than to keep it in place? The same can also be said about the missing seat and steering wheel adjustment options. People CAN, however, manage without a lid on the glove box and missing hydraulics. BUT to deliberately make the driving experience bad (by not being able to adust the steering / seat) is strange since many might get their first encounter with a Kubota through the cheapest variant and wouldn't want the more expensive one if they get a bad experience.

I love my RTV 900. A real work horse and it is incredibly easy on fuel.

Very informative. Thanks. I was looking at the x1120 and wanted to fully enclose the cab with heat. Will that take me to the rough price range of the 1100c? I find that one really pricy.

If you do want an enclosed cab, I would spring the little extra and get a X1100. Since Kubota has discontinued the X1120 you would need the new X2, and a cab for that with roof, windshield, doors, rear glass panel and heater kit is probably going to add around $5,000 so you will be within one to three thousand of a new X1100 Cab.

I have a MX5400 but the RTV couldn’t compete with the Honda pioneer which I bought.

I have a pioneer and a RTV 900. The pioneer is more fun to play around in for sure, but it’s not even in the same league as the Kubota when it comes to work chores around the farm. The Kubota is simply a tank…..

I have owned a tree farm since August 2016 and have compared SXS/UTVs several times and the result has always been the same. They are FAR too loud. Kubota claims their latest RTVs are quieter, but they are still over 80 dB at idle. Sounds over 85 dB can damage your ears. There is no reason for them to be that loud other than the manufacturers care more about profits than their customer's hearing. Polaris had an electric Ranger a few years back but the range was bad for how expensive they were. A Wrangler and small dump trailer can be bought for less that has more room, more creature comforts, is street legal, has more hauling capacity, and doesn't leave you with a headache at the end of the day.

@guttasnipe4702 my comment was in response to him mentioning they were quieter, but they're still loud enough to damage hearing. What does your reply have to do with that or anything, really? There isn't much difference in RTV/UTV prices between brands. If you can afford one, you can afford another. It comes down to brands not caring about their customer's hearing.

@@Noah_E My reply has a lot to do with your comments about price and nothing to do with hearing……Polaris had an electric Ranger a few years back but the range was bad for how EXPENSIVE they were. A Wrangler and small dump trailer can be BOUGHT for less. You must have a very short memory or forget what you write maybe you should read your own comments, better still get yourself a set of ear muffs then you won’t have to worry about noise.

@@guttasnipe4702 That part was about the only quiet option being too expensive, which is why it failed, along with it's poor range due to the limitations of battery tech at the time. "That’s why others make Shit Boxes because they can’t afford a KUBOTA RTV." implies that 1) Kubotas are more expensive than the competition when they aren't and 2) implies they are better than the competition, which again, they aren't, with the exception of Polaris. So no, your reply was neither relevant or related.

I was gonna buy the general purpose unit but you made it sound like an under equipped red headed step child. You need to up your sales pitch. Learn how to talk about the differences without making comments on all that it does not have..............Your welcome!
