Indeed, ND filters and EIS don't work together on any device. As soon as these filters appeared, reviewers were saying how wonderful the footage was with them, and I was having to comment on every one of them to point out the EIS issue which they somehow forgot to mention. Good to see your review puts this important issue front and centre, so I don't have to post a comment. Ooops, I just did... Happy New Videographing Year!

Thanks for posting this a while back! Picked up an DJI Action 2 and was trying to figure out if I should get NDs or just a CPL. This made my decision way easier 😅

very good video, thanks. does the CPL filter fit on the action 2 with the magnetic case fitted, i have the free case that sorts out the heat issue fitted to mine.

I had the same issue with the hero 10 they all seem to work the same way. I figure if I am filming with an action camera who needs a filter.

Yea.. I agree.. I mean.. you can use them everyone now and then.. but yea.. it’s tough. I found a few ways around this issue.. but it’s like.. but.. why tho! Lol

What about stabilising in post, wouldn't that help when using an ND or does the Action 2 not shut stabilisation off completely?

Does it do the same with the gopros's stabilization with nd filters?

What I do on my gopro when using ND filter is I turn off the internal stabilization and use an external software (gyroflow) to stabilize the footage using the gyro data from the camera. Works like a charm. Just got my action 2 yesterday and waiting on my ND filters tomorrow to test that out but it should work just fine.

Good shout, thank you. I've been fussing with different settings on the Action 2 and my motorcycle for a couple weeks now-pulling my hair out trying to figure out why it wasn't as expected. 20+ years as a pro photographer and evidently I can still learn a thing or two about the video side of things.

@@vdr4737 yes the action 2 is not as easy to get good result as my GoPro 10. My usual stabilization software is still working out on adding support for this camera so for now it’s no ND filters and still trying various settings. Dynamic range of this camera is kinda bad but for fpv drone flying its weight is really nice

Because Rocksteady work only 1/120 and more… just use manual settings - i have good night driving steady with dji action 2

If you could choose only one, what would you choose- hero 10 or action 2?

In your region, if you can replace *broken* action 2, Get a case for them Its durability is suuucker than GoPro

TURN STABILISATION OFF.... are you serious ?? its know with every action cam that electronic stabilisation dont work with nd filter... even with gopro this doesnt work...
