I myself watch both of those gentlemen. I smiled when you mentioned them! I’ve been devastated to lose two stylists but have found a new one that gives a cut/style that works for me. I’m happy that many “influencers “ have embraced grey hair. Coloring is time consuming and expensive. Not sure it’s healthy either!

Hi Grace, I'm glad to hear that we share an appreciation for the same gentlemen! It's always a bit of a journey to find the right stylist, especially after losing ones you've loved, so I'm happy to hear you've found someone new who works well for you. The growing embrace of grey hair by influencers is indeed a refreshing and empowering trend. You're absolutely right about the time, expense, and potential health concerns that come with regular hair coloring. It's wonderful to see more people feeling confident and beautiful in their natural hair. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences!💕

I learned a trick while hairdressing years ago to help get rid of a clients build up of hair products…add a tablespoon of baking soda into a small amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand and shampoo hair as normal. What a difference! Condition as normal.

I am 70 years old and was finding my thin and fine and mostly straight hair becoming flatter the more I shampooed. I read about the "no shampoo" technique and decided to try it. My hair has some grey coming in, especially around the nape, but still mostly a light golden brown. I wear it long, to my waist in back, with curtain bangs - but have been thinking about bobbing it just above collarbone length. Anyway, I decided to stop shampoo and just rinse my hair really well in the shower. I use no products. None. Every night I brush my hair with a NATURAL bristle brush to redistribute the oil from the scalp to the ends. When I go to bed my hair looks kinda greasy but when I wake up it is soft and luxuriant and the greasiness is gone. And it has MUCH more body at the scalp! Does not lay flat against my head. The first few weeks your hair might seem a bit oily, but the oil production does even out when you stop stripping hair of it's natural oil/conditioner. The only time I shampoo is when I've been out doing dirty yard work or been sweating a lot, but usually even those will rinse out of the hair without shampoo. Do not use hair products - no conditioners, sprays, mousse, etc. IF it seems oily, brush it more at night, out to the ends always. Give this technique a couple of months to see how it works for you. Oh, and if you use a hair dryer, be sure you aim it DOWN the hair shaft, not directly at it or up. That will preserve the position of the cuticle, which is what gives our hair its shine. I too enjoy the 2 guys you mentioned. I have found collagen protein (you drink it) also very helpful for thicker healthier hair and nails and skin. My doctor had recommended it for my joints, so bonuses!

Hi Sallianne, It's wonderful to hear about your journey with the "no shampoo" technique and how it's been working for you. Your approach to hair care is both intriguing and insightful, especially for those struggling with similar hair types. It's fascinating how our bodies can adapt and how natural methods can sometimes offer surprising benefits. The tip about brushing with a natural bristle brush and the hair dryer technique is particularly valuable. Also, it's great to hear about the added benefits of collagen protein for your hair, nails, and skin. Your experience is surely inspiring, and I'm sure it will encourage others to explore and find what works best for them, especially as our bodies and needs change with age. Thanks so much for sharing your detailed routine and insights! 😀

Really good video! I lost my thick hair - I think hormones? Anyway, I have 2 toppers - same silver colour as my own hair and I get so many compliments from people who think it is all MY hair. (well, it is all my hair, I paid for it). The other thing I do is wear cool glasses. No point in having great hair with boring glasses. Yours are cool.

Thank you for the reminders about maintaining healthy and attractive hair for older folks. My stylist/colorist and I have been meeting every four weeks since 1974!!! He has just fully retired, but his colleague is only 59 years old, and has also been with me many times!! And now, at 78, I still have wonderful hair. Your hair looks wonderful. The SRI hair dryer is super. My stylists love the lightweight for their long days. Warning: yikes-it is expensive. I, too, enjoy the advice of Justin H. and Makeover fellow. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

Hi Kathleen, What an incredible journey you've had with your stylist/colorist since 1974! It's wonderful to hear about such a longstanding and trusting relationship in hair care. Transitioning to a new stylist can be a big change, but it sounds like you're in good hands with his colleague. I'm glad you're still enjoying great hair at 78, and it's lovely to hear that you've found the SRI hair dryer effective despite its price tag. It's always a bonus when a tool is both high-quality and comfortable for everyday use. Thank you for your kind words about my hair and for sharing your experience. It's great to have another fan of Justin H. and the Makeover Guy in our community. I wish you a very Happy Holiday season ahead! 😍

I am an older adult who has a faded pixie - fade in the back and skin fade on the sides. The top/crown area is short and I wear it smooth or scrunched. I have been on a hair journey with my stylist for the past 10 years. He refuses to color my hair ( I didn't ask for a cut and color when I first met him, he mentioned it during the initial consultation). I don't follow hair trends. He always gives me a great haircut and I get stares and compliments (the stares don't bother me). I think it's important to communicate well with your stylist and be receptive to suggestions (I initially cringed when he suggested a skin fade on the sides - when he explained how it would compliment the rest of the haircut, I trusted him, and at the end of the haircut, I loved it)

Hi Cindy, It sounds like you've developed a fantastic relationship with your stylist over the years, and your hair journey is truly inspiring! Your faded pixie cut with the unique styling on the top/crown area seems to be a perfect reflection of your individuality. It's wonderful how you've placed trust in your stylist's expertise, especially with bold suggestions like the skin fade on the sides. That level of trust and communication is key in achieving a look that suits you and makes you stand out in the best way. Your experience is a great reminder of how being open to professional advice can lead to surprisingly delightful results. Thank you for sharing your story - it's encouraging for anyone looking to experiment with their hair while staying true to themselves.😍

I love watching The makeover guy, and Justin hickox. I have noticed with my gray white hair that more edgy styles make me look and feel younger than more conservative styles. I do need to check into one of those blow dryers although right now I don't blow dry my hair 😊

Hi Tina, It's great to hear from another fan of The Makeover Guy and Justin Hickox! It's interesting how experimenting with edgier styles can have such a refreshing and rejuvenating effect, especially with gray-white hair. Embracing a look that makes you feel younger and more vibrant is always a win. As for the blow dryer, even if you don't often use one, it can be a handy tool to have for those times you want to switch up your style. Thank you for sharing your experiences and preferences - it's always wonderful to hear how others are exploring and enjoying their hair journeys!😀

For a thin hair your amounts of shampoo is way too much, an amount of size of a pea is enough.
