Great advice, always amusing to read some of the negative reviews. On advice of our hotel receptionist, we took the bus to Park Guell, catching it on Passeig de Gracia. The bus took us very close to the park entrance further up the hill. It was only as we left the Park via the main entrance, that we realised just how far we would have had to walk uphill if we had taken the Metro. Also the Hop On, Hop Off bus advertising is misleading, they make it seem like their bus stop is right next to the park. We booked our tickets via the Park Guell official site, opting to do a guided tour. We can highly recommend this, our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and entertaining.

Great advice!! Loved Park Guell!! We bought our tickets in advance and walked to the park from Sagrada Familia. It was quite a hike but there were benches along the way to stop and rest. The beauty of the area was so worth it! Keep up the great work Patrick!!

I’m always baffled by these types of reviews. It sounds like people don’t bother to even do 10 or 15 minutes of homework on sites they are visiting. And, comments about crowds at well known sites in Barcelona any time of the year, let alone in prime months, demonstrate a complete lack of perception about the tourism levels in this world famous city. If you want a tourist free experience, look elsewhere, or at least visit in winter for a less crowded experience. I’ve been to Barcelona twice, one time in late November and once in early November and had amazing experiences each time. I visited the Park during the 2022 trip and really enjoyed it…but I understood what I was going to see in advance, so could make an informed decision whether it was something to include on my itinerary. For some context, I was with my 81 year old mother on that visit, so realized that taking a taxi was the best way to arrive. She didn’t have any problem hiking around the Park and loved it all.

Looking forward to your insights!

I just got back from a twenty-one day, solo backpacking exploration of: Spain (Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Tarifa and Sevilla) & Morocco (Tanger, Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga/ Sahara Desert, Marrakech, Casablanca and Rabat). Logistically it went smooth (always prebook) and the hotels/ hostels were pleasant. It was insanely grueling, exciting and most of all, educational. I learned about their culture, interacting with the beautiful citizens, indulging the scrumptious gastronomy and I got to know myself alot better. Much respect for your insights of Barcelona because as we all know, Research Is A Must! I walked everywhere and the metro was a piece of cake to ride. Hang cool, amigo... vale.

Visited with my wife, in 2012, and with our boys, in 2015. Prices, areas included, timing, etc., was different between those visits, and it appears they've all changed again (maybe not for the better). Will probably find an excuse to visit again. But, now that we're locals, we can use your tips to optimize the visit. Have to scratch my head, when someone gives a one star review and complain that they didn't appreciate the difference between what they thought they were seeing on Google Maps, and what they encountered. If "would have just taken a taxi" would have fixed her experience, why give the park a 1 star review?

@@PatrickGuideBarcelona I was aware there is an admission card, for the surrounding neighborhoods. Do you know what Barcelona residents from outside of those neighborhoods need to show? Or, is it a case (like some of the free Sunday admissions to museums) just a matter of knowing your zip code?

So many petty people. It's always someone else's fault, that they went unprepared. I'll be visiting in March and I've got the following advice - metro to station Lesseps and from there bus 24 to station Albert Llanas. From this entrance you walk downhill. As I read the comments, apparently they are even more options like this. Patrick, thanks for all your videos!

What's your opinion on using the Hop on Hop off Bus tour as transportation to get to the Park? Two birds with one stone kind of theory. Do you know how long the bus ride might take from La Sagrada to the Park? Appreciate your in depth explanation in your videos!

Hop On Hop Off has its advantages. I have no idea how long it would take to the park specifically, it depends where you get on it. You could do it, but would need to leave time for traffic before your entrance

My concern with booking a timed ticket is that I don't want to arrive early as there is not much to do and if I arrive half an hour late I presume I cannot get in. My wife and I are visiting on 20th or 21st Febuary this year. If we turn up at around 4pm, will we have to queue and will we get in given it is off peak?

A lot of these just sound like unfit people; which is their fault or at least up to them to manage their own expectations if their have disabilities that they can’t help. If they’re unfit or disabled, they should rent a small push scooter or wheelchair or go early in the morning when it’s cooler and less people.
