Prob one of my favorite tips so far tbh. I’ve been playing for a touch more angle and trying a bottom left or right approach and it’s tough to judge that a lot. Cue ball is easy to get away from you. Thank you. This is much more natural.

Hey Niels! Love the channel! In the last example at 10:44 I might have gone a third way: I liked drawing back about a foot or so to be out diagonally from the 7 ball. Then I shoot the 7 with the high inside 3 railer. In other words catch ball first thinly on the top side (so thin I'd be cutting it parallel with the side rail), then going into the long rail, short rail, and using the spin to create the angle I need to get to the top right corner of the table. I know you need to hit the 7 thin so it doesn't overspin but I like this shot a lot. You've done videos on this shot and a lot of people know it but don't always recognize it when the ball is near the jaws. Of course if the cloth is brand new it might be unpredictable because the spin doesn't take as well, then I like your last option best of getting on the side rail. (Edit - the high inside 3 railer only works if you can catch the side rail instead of the point) Thoughts? Appreciate your content!

It's more of a comfort shot, takes a bit more effort than Neil's shots, but if you are comfortable with it, I know it can be pretty automatic. In pub table with bad equipment, I would say you really don't want to force a shot like this, a natural tangent line is much more reliable.

MAN, did this need to be addressed in my case, super topic. Would you like suggestions on more possible topics, from me and other commenters? I haven't watched yet, but I'm really looking forward to this. I often miss pocketing these balls when trying to do a rail first rail out positioning, especially when the ball is really deep and there are blockers, or badly blow the position after actually making the ball. This is most definitely a tough scenario for me to plan and execute properly, way more often than I would like. I like how you address very narrow focused topics. Not usually done in other channels I watch to the degree you do it, and often topics under or not addressed in other, even good channels. I remember watching Corey in an interview say skills are overrated. I think one aspect of that is what you were showing here on the first example, where knowledge is required over skills 90:10. I expect he also meant mental, heart, etc, but now I think this was probably one thing to which he was referring. I chose the short rail, because that's what you said to do .... oh, wait, you meant BEFORE you said it. :-/ :-)

I've gotten better at not making these mistakes, but when I do every now and then I am able to bail myself out with a good rail first shot on a hanger to get back up table. That would be a good video as well, giving us some pointers on rail first shots and how they can be used in different scenarios and how to avoid the mistakes from playing them as well like three rail scratches etc. Keep it up Niels, all the knowledge is appreciated :)

Niels, This transitional shot is so huge. You play a guy and he keeps missing. Why? He is jamming the ball. He misses and HANGS the ball. You get up and either you are stuck behind a ball or you have to PLAY position to get in Line again. I had that happen to me twice and lost both matches. AND The guy must have dogged the ball 5 times in the match. SICKENING. I now have the tools to get out of it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Great lesson Niels!! This is another set of shots I will add to my drilling routine. I can follow directions and do what I am told, but what would really help me is knowing the reason behind why we use low, high, or stun for different shots. When you take into account low, high, stun on the cue ball, and combine it with full, half, or 3/4 ball hits, and combine that with speed, you end up with an overwhelming number of combined possibilities of outcomes. How do you keep it all straight? Many times you mentioned "it's nothing special, just knowledge." Is it just repetition and years of experience? How did you train your brain to recognize what is needed? I'm sorry for the long comment. I pretty much train on my own, but I like to share knowledge with my team. I think I need a coach!

Tnx for the comment 👍🏼 but listen carefully because I mention when you hit it fuller the cue ball starts to curve more and sometimes with top spin also. Watch it a few times 😄👍🏼👍🏼

All spot on. Your last scenario where your opponent misses and leaves you straight in on the hanger? Simple. Rail first shot with top left or right depending on the angle to get position on the money ball. Also, not mentioned is getting position on the next ball that's center table somewhere. It's very easy, don't ask me how I know, to overrun the cue ball right past your next object ball. Takes some practice to get the speed control under control on hanger shots.

Made a video for him and setup an overhead with just my old cell phone above my table. Next time I'd add in lines showing cue ball paths. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hKaNrbiihsrVqJs.html
