Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone) - Cinderella - Alyona Yarushina - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Cinderella was another one of those great bands that just hit you out of nowhere.
Apparently, Jon Bon Jovi was at a bar in Philly (South Jersey) in 1985, helped them get a record deal, but here's where it gets interesting:
Night Songs, their, debut album, would sell 30 million copies worldwide within a three-year span-without a hit single! This was a first in rock music history. (crazy)
But Wait! There's more!!!
Just prior to this: (and I do mean just prior to this)
Tom Keifer played in a number of cover bands up and down the East Coast bar circuit, and for a time he was so destitute he slept in his Plymouth Duster, ate boxed grits, and pilfered from a cornfield in the area.
Keifer had previously sent in a demo to Polygram Records which was completely ignored until Bon Jovi stepped in and asked them to dig through and find the demo.
Just wow. (How "ironic" the band's name was "Cinderella." Man that is one Cinderella story or what?)
(I have my own personal story I will share with you on this at a later date.)
Let this be a lesson to us all, that even bands like Cinderella have been rejected.
Aly and I thought it would be fun to take on "Don't Know What You Got."
We added some fun movie scenes to emphasize the title.

@@kentamplin Ken, I've never been able to sing. However, I've always had an ear to interpret wether or not someone is a great singer or just average. This awesome lady is a great singer and her only hindrance to achieving fame will be if she has the desire or not. I feel she has what it takes and has picked a great vocal coach to assist her along the way. Her true fame would be greater accomplished in the United States, in my opinion. I look forward to hearing more and am hoping she sees her way to stardom.
now this is a wicked voice, what is required now is a song written directly for her, in her very own zone using her very own required levels, and then we have a shining star.

Surprisingly, the song of the great Tom Keifer was not spoiled. I haven't seen a good male performance of this song, and here--a woman has done the job. She managed to "EXCELLENT"! Ken, you are a master.

I've always thought this would be the perfect song for someone with the right voice to cover. She absolutely knocked it out of the park. Tom keifer is tough to match, she did far more than that.

I was able to do it as well 10 years back but now ailing health won't permit me. Don't have the strength and stamina any more. About 50 now.
Totally believe it i felt the sincerity and her voice still resonates in my head, great job :-)

Every line she sings just shows so purely how much she wants to put her heart into the lyrics. She has a true desire to convey what the words mean; like how a person would feel going through the situation the song talks about. I love how the guitar solo is left in. Definitely passion here!

This song really moves me to tears, and it's really hard to keep myself from crying during the listening process. My father passed away on Easter Sunday night in April 2020. He was battling pancreatic cancer for 6 years until his passing. During his final days in life, I was hoping that he would have had longer to live, but sadly that wasn't the case. He was 61 years old when he passed away. Right off the bat, I always knew I had him. Luckily I still have my mother around. Not only that, but I still have his high School class ring from when he graduated from Trumbull High School in 1976.
