Wait until you do the residency exams and match for your program. Some of the programs have caps and it can be competitive as hell. One of my cousins tried to get into UCLA but didn't match for residency so he had to wait another year

Also, why does nobody address the struggle of your period during your residency. I have terrible cramps and it was one of the hardest things to cope with during my first year of residency. Imagine dealing with that and you’re part of the EM board. This needs more awareness man.

My mom said “it must be depressing working surrounded by sick people” since I am a nurse. I have never thought of it like that, but I work in Acute care and not critical care so most of them get discharged. It is great to see a lot them get significantly better than they were when they were admitted and go home.

Doctors are super human, They have to commit to study for almost 10 years + pay off a huge student loans.+ they work 70-80 hours a week..hmm I rather continue with my Computer Science degree.

@@aidyn22 that's why it is a joke, a bad one, only people who are pursuing this can feel, we devote half of our life only for studying, first you have to compete to get a prestigious medical college then 5-6 years of graduation, 2-3 years of masters, then again some sort of specialization, even after all this not all doctors are paid as much peope think, in some sectors like ENT, physiotherapy, there aren't enough jobs, so they have to work at a very low wage, at the end "they neither have money to pay study loan & live life" nor time to do anything else.

Being an Indian this makes me happy. A lot of kids here are forced to become a doctor or an engineer so it makes me happy and kinda shocked when I see people who genuinely want to become doctors. That's something I can't even imagine will happen to me. You are so lucky. I wanted to be psychiatrist, but I couldn't even bother to study because I am smart as well as lazy. I still do read about psychiatrist books but doing it as a profession, not for me. I wish I had that courage 😂😂😂😂😂

I’m currently in med school right now, free of debt and student loans, get paid $3000 a month all because I decided to joined the marine corps and use that sweet sweet G.I bill Edit:paying for school is overrated, as a prior combat vet I’ll say fuck the government for making you waste you life for accumulate debt for school. There are multiple sources out there that can help you come out with little to no debt at all.

Seee I didn’t plan to live past 21. Now I’m 21 with absolutely no SOLID plans for my feature yet. Nursing is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a kid. I use to sow my sisters stuffed animals together after the dogs tore them up and I would always help bandage my friends when they got hurt ect. Well I still don’t see a feature. We’ll see if I do make it to my 22nd

here’s some perspective- by the time I am finished with school I’ll be 38 maybe 40… I am 25 and just deciding to become a psychiatrist because I didn’t want to be one of those people who got out of school and couldn’t find a job or switching their major 100 times. Debt terrifies me and I’m the type of person who wants to be set in stone with something and will work hard toward it. College is good for solid job prospects, STEM. Don’t be ashamed of your age, you’ll be making triple of what some people you went to school with. You may have to be in school longer but it will be totally worth it.

It's not like it's not worth it.But there will be too many obstacles in your way like endless hours of study,practicals,clinicals,stress,no social life(or minimal social life).strict college professors making your life hell,starvation,depression,lonliness,etc, etc.If you can endure all of this without breaking down,one day you'll become a doctor who everyone respects.It's worth it.

I find that the main motivator in getting an MD or PhD is simply to brag, but no one actually cares, so they have to find ways to weave into everyday activities like doing YT shorts/TikTok or casually mentioning it in everyday conversation. Just my observation.

I'm 18, I attended for medic University this yr but I couldn't pass the exam, Here things are little different and there is more competition over this field It's hard to get in uni but It's all free there is no such a thing like tuitions, And I'm waiting and studying for next exam in mid of 2022 😭 I hope I don't quit and continue, There is lots of pressure on me, 😭😭 like the whole family excepted me to pass that exam but I couldn't😭😭😭😢

this is how i feel getting my masters in chemE right now. I just feel afraid lol but i know i can do it i mean i was so scared when i first started undergrad but i ended up graduating just fine. 😬 Its only our own self doubts that can destroy our paths to success

Depends on why you go into it. If it's for money or reputation yeah it's not worth it. If you like knowing how the body works and like working with people and helping them then it can be worth it to fix them
