Comment below: Has your student ran into any of these less-than-legitimate scholarships?
I’ve actually won a “random drawing” scholarship for my daughter. A student loan lender in my state (which was my lender long ago) has quarterly drawings for parents to subscribe to a periodic email newsletter about preparing students for college. They send 2 emails per month or so. Some had useful information. A few months ago I was notified that I won and they made a $250 deposit to my daughter’s 529 plan (same state) about a month ago.

Congratulations on winning! The lottery drawings are legitimate, but they are rare to win them. They are mostly used as marketing ploys to build database leads for marketing campaigns.
Very good information thank you
Thank you for this video. The information is very useful. I have been worried about making the best use of my time when applying for Scholarships and this pointed me in the right direction. Do you have any tips or recommended paid sites for getting grants or scholarships, and are they worth the money? Thanks!

Thank you so much for the video! I just wanted to ask, what are your views on scholarship owl? I was looking into it and it seems to be good, but I'm still pretty skeptical. Is applying through scholarship owl safe or worth it? Thank You so much!

Most of these types of sites host many legitimate scholarships and a lot of sweepstakes as well. So you would just need to evaluate each scholarship opportunity. Because these platforms are so popular and well-known, there will be a lot of applicants and competition.

@@TheScholarshipSystem Gotcha, guess I'll give it a try. Once again thank you so much!
First of all, thanks for the video. You’ve solidified many things I suspected were true. Is the moolah scholarship legit? Also, the detective scholarship…. Also, my daughter ran into one today that’s called the 1 for 2 scholarship foundation which is actually a horrible loan. They say they give one scholarship to you, and you pay back 2 over the course of your life, which you don’t have to start paying back for 20 years… but then you are expected to pay the amount + inflation… so if a kid is awarded $40,000, then in 20 years, they have to pay back around $144,000! It’s horrible. Any chance those guys could get knocked out and never come back?! 😬

Oh wow - that one wouldn't be a scholarship at all! That is certainly a sneaky approach. As for the Moolah Spot Scholarship, it does, in theory, tick all the boxes of a legitimate scholarship. But, as with any scholarship, use your discretion when applying!
Please help me know if ibs americas at sunny university newyork is legit or not. They said they give schorlarship for three weeks courses eg busines english.

We don't verify individual scholarship opportunities. You could contact Sunny University to verify if they offer such a scholarship and their application process.

There are some legitimate ones there, but you have to be wary of the ones that seems more like drawings (where you don't have to do anything) - if it is based on luck and they give away scholarships through drawings or sweepstakes, then it would not be worth your time.
What about highschool scholarships
