The VA C&P examiner did this facial recognition test doing my PTSD exam in 2017. In myhealthyvet she opined that I was malingering and I was denied service connection. I was furious to say the least. I requested a re-exam with an outside company. The VA sent me to a QTC psychiatrist a month later. At the QTC facility there was no facial recognition test. 3 weeks later I was granted service connection at 100%

After reading comments, I think it should be assessed that audio recordings of exams are essential documentation. Do a blind recording, then after the exam drop the "oh by the way, I recorded this for my own records".

At my DRO hearing the VA stated things to me before the recording was turned on. The most bothersome thing was he made it clear to me and my wife that all Veterans lie. I stated , so before we even get started you are calling me a liar ?. The DRO laughed. I have started keeping audio notes on all conversations with the VA... Yes I audio record and make sure to ask VA employees to identify themselves. I refer back to them in statements regarding my case.

I had one of those contracted examiners bold face lie in their notes, which I obtained copies of later. I was there for a painful scar, of course I told the truth and said that it was painful and itchy, etc.. In the notes the doctor had written that the scar is not painful the veteran reported. Such a lie, made me so upset. I got denied but won it on appeal a year or so later. It's crazy that these people put veterans through all of this just for trying to obtain a benefit that we rightfully earned.

This is happening to me right now. I have had multiple things listed in my claim and the VA in Indianapolis is only willing to examine Tinnitus and PTSD. They are also having me do the examination at a private doctors office and they sent me a letter in the mail saying that I lack sufficient evidence supporting I have PTSD when I've been diagnosed with it but they're going to send me to this private doctor for the C&P exam most likely to kick me under the rug and tell me I am somehow lying about PTSD. The people that work at the VA in Indianapolis are corrupt disgusting people who should not be allowed to practice medicine.

I had a qtc examiner give me a paper to check boxes on it, and when I didn’t understand what the boxes meant because they seemed to have a wide range of meaning I asked her what they meant and all she told me was check what you think is best for you. Then two days later the VA made there decision on my PTSD re-evaluation and said that they where going to reduce me and there reasoning was the boxes I didn’t check that I didn’t know what they meant. Now for the last year I bee. Fighting with the VA about my rating when the doctor I see weekly for the past 5 years recommended I be considered 100 permanent and total rating. The VA takes information from their evaluator that knows nothing about me over that of my doctor.

I remember I had a physical the Doctor ask me how do I feel I sad ok . He contacts the VA they drop me in ratings . I’ll never fall for that again . Today I’m 80% with IU permanent and Total had a brain injury. One Doctor ask me what problems I’m I having I told him I’m having dizzy spells and forgetting my way home at times . He wrote the VA I was malingering . So my psychologist sent me to have some test EEG showed I was having petit mal seizures so I take Nuerontion today had an ENG test to check balance Test showed very impaired soI got a rating for Vertigoand Seizure disorder but yet the previous Doctor said I was malingering she cost me like 2 years in benefits by her incompetence of being a physician. I was hit with an ax across the head suffering a skull fracture with 4 weeks of hospitalization, had to learn how to walk and talk again on my own and what got me angry was these VA jerk offs thought I was faking it . Try getting hit with an ax and tell me if you’re not going to have residuals is what I told my last CP examiner he rated me permanent and total after that statement. I fought the VA for 15 years to get my rating. When ever I go to VA Doctors I never tell them I’m fine I always tell them I’m still having problems because I remember that day when I told a Doctor I’m fine when I thought he was talking about the day than I’m reduced in rating so speak of that cause I don’t want other Vets to go through my experience

I just filed for TDIU with 70% PTSD already awarded twice by the VA. Now they want me to do a third C&P and I smell a huge VA RAT! Thanks for the warning, I had 2 C&P's for PTSD, one in 2016 and another in 2020, both came back with 70%. My question is why does the VA do this, I know, to save money and screw over the Veteran. I have lots of evidence for my TDIU including work outbursts for which I got a letter of counselling, a occupational assessment by a third party and forced retirement my former management lied about to make it look they no longer needed my skills when in reality they wanted to dump me because of my inability to deal with others in the workplace. I will be reaching out to Hill & Ponton after my TDIU claim is completed as I feel no matter the evidence I provide the VA will stab me in the back just as they have for many veterans and I will need to file an appeal.

On my papers when they denied me they didn't say I was malinger or they said pretty much I'm trans and that's not their problem now I don't believe they're supposed to be allowed to discriminate but I still got the paperwork so of course they didn't phrase it exactly like that but even when it came to my eye condition they're like well you applied for your right eye and we checked out your left eye and you basically there's nothing wrong with your left eye so we don't know why you're making a claim for an eye condition and again I had made the claim for the other eye of course now it's it's actually healed up by itself my right eye but essentially when I left the military I had cranial nerve damage according to the hospital corpsman

My last C&P exam was supposed to last 90 minutes according to the papers. I was being evaluated for 5 different disabilities. A friend that drove and I waited in the civilian MD's empty office for 30 min before been called back. My appt lasted less than 10 minutes with the evaluator. I was completely shocked when after a few questions and a measurement with the VA's F.U. instrument, I was heading out the door. Another game the vision examiners are doing is placing a VR type headset on the veteran that measures side or peripheral vision. They set it to a default where the flashing light is coming from the same spot over and over. So they have the veteran clicking over and over and then the examiner steps out and brings another examiner in and says “oh we’re sorry we have to reset our headset”. They’re doing this in hopes you have you click at different intervals because on the first trial it’s coming from the same direction. Then when they fix it, the flashing light is coming from various degrees. Really unethical!

What I have learned about the VA process is that one you are rated a disability percentage, make sure you continue to seeking treatments, don’t stop seeing your Physician and send messages to your Care provider and never become complacent. You should have tried to get P&T status (Permanent and total) overall they maybe looking for any improvement in your condition or if if has gotten worse. God bless
